AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)07/20 Report--
Recently, Liu Ke, foreign academician of the Australian National Academy of Engineering and dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the Southern University of Science and Technology, said in a keynote speech on "carbon Neutralization misunderstanding and its realistic path" in the Academician Hall of Science and Technology Innovation in Shenzhen: the struggle between electric cars and fuel cars began a hundred years ago. "if the energy structure does not change, if 67% of the power grid is still coal-fired, then electric vehicles are increasing carbon emissions, not reducing carbon emissions. Electric vehicles can be regarded as clean energy only when most of the energy structure and power grid are made up of renewable energy.
For electric vehicles, Liu Ke believes that the technology of hydrogen production from methanol may be a desirable way to make electric vehicles really clean. Electric cars appeared 100 years ago. Why didn't they beat fuel cars in the past 100 years? In Liu Ke's view, on the one hand, it is the problem of energy density and infrastructure. The energy density of liquid fuel is much higher than that of lead-acid battery. At the same time, it is convenient to transport. Human beings have built liquid fuel filling facilities all over the world. On the other hand, it is the problem of mass production cost and pollution. The materials used to make lead-acid batteries are not only expensive, but also the heavy metals (nickel, cobalt, lead, cadmium, etc.) are easy to cause environmental pollution, but battery recycling is still a difficult problem. Liu Ke said he was not optimistic about the current mainstream electric cars, saying: "the capital market is very hot now, but can actually make money, electric car companies know whether they are warm and cold." Liu Ke believes that hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are worth studying. "High power generation efficiency, reduced dependence on oil, water vapor emissions, and large-scale post-natal costs can come down." However, hydrogen energy also has some problems, such as high cost of storage and transportation, great hidden danger of safety, large investment in infrastructure and so on.
As for the remarks made by Academician Liu Ke, some netizens said: with the development of UHV technology and the transmission of electricity from west to east, the electricity will become cleaner and cleaner. Another netizen said: the problem is that the energy structure is changing all the time, with less and less thermal power and more and more wind power, hydropower and solar nuclear power.
According to the latest statistics from the China Automobile Association, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 248000 and 256000 respectively in June, up 14.3% and 17.7% from the previous month, and 1.3 times and 1.4 times higher than the same period last year. From January to June, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles both exceeded 1.2 million, reaching 1.215 million and 1.206 million respectively, a year-on-year increase of two times, and an increase of 94.4% and 92.3% respectively compared with the same period in 2019.
In recent years, with the deepening of the concept of green development, the topic of electric vehicles replacing fuel vehicles is also increasing. Relevant industry insiders also said that at present, the biggest advantage of electric vehicles is not its efficiency but the diversity of available energy. Compared with cars that run on gasoline, it is electricity that makes electric cars run. Electricity can be produced from countless sources of potential energy, and this diversity can reduce the country's dependence on a single resource.
