A few days ago, Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products and the Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products, and recalled the following vehicles from August 2,2021.

(I) Tianjin FAW Toyota Automobile Co., Ltd.: recall some Karola double-lift vehicles produced from August 22,2019 to July 19,2021, totaling 116551 vehicles;

(II) GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd.: recall 109034 vehicles produced from May 29,2019 to July 19,2021;

Reason for recall: The vehicles within the scope of this recall are equipped with adaptive cruise system. When the vehicle is driving under the start-up state of this system, due to imperfect program of brake control computer, the brake lamp does not light up when the system performs slight braking within some speed range, which does not meet the requirements of relevant national mandatory technical standards. In extreme cases, rear collision may occur, resulting in potential safety hazard.

Solution: Tianjin FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. and GAC Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. will upgrade the adaptive cruise control program of brake control computer free of charge for vehicles within the recall scope to eliminate potential safety hazards.

Emergency response measures: Before recalling maintenance, it is recommended that users suspend the use of adaptive cruise function, and enter the store in time for program upgrade after the recall activity starts.
