On August 29, the annual Chengdu International Auto Show officially opened. As one of the domestic A-class auto shows, the opening of Chengdu Auto Show undertakes the important activities launched by major car companies in the second half of the year. Both independent car companies and joint venture car companies have brought a lot of blockbuster models, including the new generation of Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The mid-term modification of Audi Q2L, domestic Kia Jiahua, Tank 400 / Tank 500, BYD Dolphin and other models prove to a certain extent the popularity of Chengdu Auto Show and the importance of Chengdu Auto Show for the development of major auto companies in the second half of the year. The organizers of the auto show said that the Chengdu International Auto Show not only boosts the domestic auto market, but also ensures that exhibitors can successfully realize their strategic planning on this platform.

At this year's Chengdu Auto Show, a number of car companies brought blockbuster models, including brand-new models, replacement models, medium-term modified models and so on. For example, the pre-price of domestic Kia Jiahua was officially announced at RMB 28.89-339900, BYD dolphin was officially listed at RMB 9.38-121800, and the pre-price of Dongfeng Nissan Qichen Big V was announced at RMB 10.3-133000. The official listing price of FAW-Volkswagen Audi Q2L is 22.88-251600 yuan. In addition, SAIC Volkswagen ID.3, Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Sena, Tank 400 / Tank 500, Haver, Euler Ballet Cat, Changan UNI-V and other models were unveiled.

At this year's Chengdu Auto Show, there are not only many car companies "upstart", but also many car companies are forced to be absent. Compared with the 2020 Chengdu Auto Show, fewer auto companies are absent from this auto show, but there are significantly more new exhibitors. For example, absent auto companies include Guangzhou Automobile Honda, Guangzhou Auto Acura, Tesla, Dongfeng scenery, FAW Pentium, Weichai Automobile, Aichi, Wuling, Baojun, etc., while the new exhibitors include tank brands, SAIC Audi, Zhiji Automobile, Polar Krypton Automobile, Dongfeng Lantu, Genisseth and so on. In particular, the new power of car-building brands, there has been a marked increase in this auto show, including Gaohe, ideal, Skyline and zero running all appeared at the auto show. Compared with the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show, the most obvious absentees are Tesla and Hengchi.

From the perspective of these car companies, most brands do not have a strong sense of existence, and of course some brands do not participate in the exhibition because of some unknown reasons. Take FAW Pentium as an example, although it is backed by China FAW, its popularity in the market is not very strong. At present, FAW Pentium's products on sale include T99, T77, T55, T33, B70 and other models on sale. According to the data in July, the highest sales volume of FAW Pentium is Honda B70, 2495, Pentium T77 and Pentium T33 are 1474 and 1142 respectively, while other models are all less than 1000.

Let's take a look at Tesla. Although he is a member of a car brand, he is well-known in both the Chinese market and the global market, and he is also the most valuable car company in the world. However, he is absent from the Chengdu Auto Show this time. It's still a bit of a surprise. As we all know, at this year's Shanghai auto show, a female car owner wearing a white T-shirt with "brake failure" climbed onto the roof of the exhibition car and shouted "Tesla brake failure" and fell into serious negative public opinion. Whether Tesla did not participate in the Chengdu auto show was worried about the occurrence of such incidents, or other reasons that we do not know. Some netizens believe that Tesla's participation in the exhibition is actually of little significance. With brand awareness and direct sales, there is no need for auto shows to enhance their fame.

Compared with the above two car companies, it may be expected that Evergrande did not appear at the Chengdu auto show. At this year's Shanghai Auto Show, Hengchi put nine models on the booth in one go. This is the first time Evergrande has participated in the auto show. On that day, the booth was packed and the heat was no worse than that of Tesla. However, after the Shanghai auto show, Evergrande's share price fell all the way, from HK $70 per share to HK $5 per share, coupled with the debt problems of the major shareholder Evergrande Group, as a cross-border car brand that has not yet mass-produced new cars. Evergrande actually has little significance to participate in the exhibition. However, there are also many problems with Evergrande at present. although nine models have been released to the outside world, they have not been put on the market in mass production, and the loss continues to increase, although Evergrande Group is the leading enterprise in domestic real estate enterprises. but its own cash flow situation is not optimistic, therefore, China Evergrande even issued an announcement to sell part of Evergrande's rights and interests in order to alleviate the crisis.

As for Guangzhou Auto Honda, as the mainstream joint venture brand under GAC GROUP, the absence from the auto show is a bit of a surprise. According to rumors, GAC Honda and GAC Acura failed to participate in the exhibition because the price and location of the booth were unreasonable, so they simply did not participate in the exhibition. Of course, this is just a rumor, and the exact reason may only be known to the authorities.

Different from Tesla and Evergrande, the "freshman" of the automobile industry is constantly expanding its "circle of friends". Many new brands are unveiled at the Chengdu Auto Show for the first time, including Tank SUV, SAIC Audi, Genisys, Zhiji Automobile, Jihu ARCFOX and so on. Take tank SUV as an example, it officially declared its independence at the Shanghai auto show, becoming the fifth largest brand under Great Wall Motor, bringing tank 300,700 and tank 500, positioning medium and large high-end off-road SUV, of which Tank 500is the first model equipped with 3.0T and 9AT gearbox. It is understood that the future tank family will have at least 5 models, power is expected to cover 2.0T-3.0T, covering different levels of market to meet different needs.

Genisse also made its debut at the Chengdu Auto Show. On the eve of the Shanghai auto show, Genisse officially announced its entry into China, bringing two new models, the G80 and the GV80, to the market. Genisse brought the G70 at this year's Chengdu auto show and will accept pre-orders from October. The Genisse G70 still uses the classic family design, with a three-stage design on the perimeter, a heart-shaped front grille and a black interior. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 2.0T turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 248 horsepower, an ejection start function and a full-time all-wheel drive system.

As we all know, the Chengdu auto show was planned to be held on August 27, but due to the influence of the epidemic, the official decided to postpone the show for two days, that is, to August 29, on the grounds that all the at-risk areas in Chengdu had been cleared to zero, marking the full return of normal urban operation and production and life. Even so, the Chengdu auto show is extremely tense, with thousands of people going in and out every day, and once there is an infection, it is unthinkable. In addition, some car companies are still in high-risk areas of the epidemic, and entering Chengdu requires isolation and nucleic acid testing, which also adds a lot of difficulty to the auto show.

Under the influence of the epidemic, chip shortage, and many other unfavorable factors, the major car companies have not had an easy life this year, but as a Class An auto show held during the Jin Jiu Yin Ten period, many car companies still have high hopes for the Chengdu auto show and put some important models on the market and start selling them at the auto show, because Chengdu Auto Show is still the "testing ground" for many auto companies' western strategy.
