According to media reports, BYD said at an investor relations event that following the launch of its first model, the Dolphin, the ocean series plans to launch new models such as Seagulls, Seals and Sea Lions to expand its product range and further enhance the company's influence.

BYD dolphin, known as the "new species of pure electricity", was officially launched at the Chengdu Auto Show in 2021, with three life-lasting versions of 301km, 401km and 405km being launched at a price range of 9.38-121800 yuan. Compared with the previous pre-price of 9.68-124800 yuan, the official listing price has dropped by 3000 yuan.

It is called the "pure electric new species" because the new BYD model has a new design style in appearance and interior, and the round and cute style relatively matches the name of its "dolphin". From the outside, BYD dolphin uses a very round body design, the front face uses a closed grille, and adds more U-shaped elements for embellishment, while carrying BYD's new LOGO. In the rear part, the new car uses a through taillight design, and there is also a black ribbon engraved with the "Build Your Dream" logo between the two taillights.

In terms of body size, BYD dolphin has a length, width and height of 4070 (4125) / 1770/1570mm and a wheelbase of 2700mm, positioning a small pure electric vehicle. In addition, BYD dolphin exterior interior decoration has a total of 7 different color combinations, providing consumers with a variety of car purchase options.

The interior also adopts a brand-new design style and uses marine design elements, and the center console uses a large number of soft curve designs, showing the wave shape of the ocean. with a suspended dashboard, a three-format multi-function steering wheel and a floating central control screen, there is also a characteristic storage grid at the bottom of the central control screen, and there are some physical buttons on the edge of the storage grid.

In terms of power, BYD dolphin will be equipped with a drive motor codenamed TZ180XSF, with a maximum power of 70kW and a peak torque of 180N ·m. In terms of battery type, the new car is equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade battery, which provides 301km and 405km mileage options.

BYD dolphin is the first model in the ocean series, and many types of models such as sedan, SUV, crossover, pickup and so on will be launched in the future, covering A, A +, B, B + class models, with pure electric EV models as the main power type, and gradually expanded to fuel models and DM-i/DM-p mixed models. As for BYD's official plans to launch new models such as Seagulls, Seals and Sea Lions, it has been learned from the State intellectual property Office that BYD has applied for trademarks such as whales, seals, seagulls, swordfish and sharks, which to a certain extent shows BYD's plan to launch a series of marine products.

On Sept. 3, BYD released the latest production and sales data, showing that car sales in August were 68531, up 86.32% from a year earlier, of which 61409 new energy vehicles (including passenger cars / passenger cars) were sold, up 301.81% from a year earlier. As the leader of new energy vehicles in China, BYD's sales of new energy passenger vehicles repeatedly hit record highs. In August, the sales of new energy passenger vehicles were 60508, of which 30126 were DM hybrid models and 30382 were EV models. In other words, the sales of DM hybrid models and pure electric models were basically the same.

At the BYD China News Exchange meeting, BYD officials said: "this year, 600000 new energy vehicles (pure electricity + plug-in) are planned to be delivered, and 1.5 million next year." However, due to BYD's limited production capacity, although sales continue to hit record highs, it is difficult to pick up cars in the terminal market. It is understood that BYD currently has 160000 outstanding orders (mostly DM-i), and some car owners even have to wait until next year to pick up their cars, which is hard to find.
