AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/19 Report--
In response to the problem of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota iA5 "power lock", some car owners reported the problem to the Guangzhou Nansha District Market Supervision and Management Bureau, which was transferred to the Guangzhou Nansha District Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau to reply to the complaint, and issued a "reply on the clues to the report of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. suspected of violating the law and regulations."
The article points out that Guangzhou Auto Toyota forced to upgrade the vehicle BMS battery management system without the consent of the car owner, and the battery power decreased. Guangzhou Nansha District Comprehensive Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau interviewed relevant personnel of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota on August 12, September 1 and September 7 respectively to collect Guangzhou Automobile Toyota iA5 vehicle data and conduct an investigation. At present, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration conducts an investigation into the upgrading of vehicles by GAC Toyota through OTA. Later, the State Administration of Market Supervision will deal with it according to the investigation results, and GAC Toyota will properly handle it to car owners according to the results of national market investigation.
In August this year, a Guangzhou Automobile Toyota iA5 owner sent a report to the quality Development Bureau of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration to report and protect its rights and circulated on the Internet. The report letter is as follows: from July 18 to 23, 2021, Guangzhou Auto Toyota upgraded the battery management system BMS through background OTA for a large number of Guangzhou Automobile Toyota iA5 models produced before June 2020 without informing customers and with their permission, artificially reducing the available capacity of the car's power battery (locking power) and limiting the vehicle output power to no more than 60% (locking power).
Overall, the problem reflected in the report letter is that the actual mileage of iA5 vehicles has been reduced by nearly 100km after GAC Toyota upgraded its iA5 vehicles. Not only the mileage is reduced, the output power of the motor that could have been 100% output is forced to be locked below 60%. In addition, some users said that when the vehicle was nearly fully charged, they went to the 4S store for vehicle information diagnosis and found that when the vehicle SOC (battery charge) was 99%, BMS reported that the actual power consumption of SOC was only 83.5%.
At present, a number of car owners have complained about the above problems in iA5, which means that this is not an isolated incident. According to the August complaint list released by the car quality website, Guangzhou Auto Toyota iA5 ranked second with 96 complaints, with a number of car owners complaining about iA5 mileage.
Data show that the iA5 is the first pure electric vehicle under GAC Toyota, although it is the first pure electric vehicle under GAC Toyota, but its overall shape is basically the same as GAC NE Aion S, only in the headlights and taillights and other parts to make changes, and the front and rear of the car is also hanging GAC NE's logo, it can be said that it is a Toyota model based on Aion S. On the price, GAC EAN S is 13.96-205800 yuan, while GAC Toyota iA5 is 16.98-192800 yuan.
Based on this, GAC Aion S is also affected. In August, GAC AION S also appeared on the complaint list, ranking second only to GAC Toyota iA5, mainly because of the lack of mileage. At present, the relevant brands have not responded and explained many product problems reflected by car owners, and we will continue to pay attention to the further progress of the incident.
