AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)09/26 Report--

Recently, Toyota announced a recall of more than 110000 vehicles, CCTV reported. It is understood that the recall involves the "Prius" and other 39 models, a total of 111842 vehicles. The production date of the recalled vehicles is from April to August, and these vehicles may suddenly break down while driving. It is mainly divided into two categories: one is that due to defects in the control program, the emergency communication device of the vehicle may not be able to make voice calls, and the hybrid power system will stop working, making the vehicle unable to drive; the other is that some parts of the engine are cracked, which may lead to substandard exhaust emissions. The head of Toyota's publicity department said in response to the recall that the recall did not involve the Chinese market.

It is worth noting that as early as July this year, Toyota announced a recall of some imported Elfa cars in the Chinese market, a total of 12955 vehicles. The reason for the recall is that these vehicles are equipped with idle start-stop function, but due to problems in the control program, after the vehicle enters the idle start-stop mode, the engine may not be able to start again, which may lead to the hidden danger of rear-end collision. Toyota Motor (China) Investment Co., Ltd. will upgrade the control programs of engine control computer and idle start-stop control computer for all target vehicles again free of charge, and replace the improved qualified battery heat insulation cover; at the same time, confirm the deterioration of the battery and replace the problem battery with a brand new battery free of charge to eliminate safety risks.

Recently, in addition to a large number of recalls, Toyota's production has also been affected by a lack of cores. On September 17, Toyota's official website said: affected by the shortage of spare parts caused by the epidemic in Southeast Asia, all 14 factories in Japan will temporarily stop production in October for up to 11 days. In addition, according to an earlier report by the Asahi Shimbun, Toyota said on September 10 that it would adjust its car production in September and October: it would cut production by about 430000 vehicles in September from 360000 vehicles it originally planned to produce; in October, it had planned to produce 880000 vehicles, but now it will cut production by 330000 vehicles, a reduction of about 40%. Toyota's annual vehicle production forecast for 2021 was also cut to 9 million vehicles from the initial 9.3 million vehicles, a decrease of 3 per cent. According to relevant data, Toyota's global sales fell 10.6% to 720765 vehicles in August, and Toyota has been on a downward trend for eight consecutive months. Of this total, Toyota's sales in China fell 11.9 per cent to 144800 in August. From January to August, sales in China increased by 18.7% to 1.2856 million vehicles.

It is not difficult to see that, hit by the chip shortage, the production capacity and sales of many Toyota models have been affected to a certain extent. Toyota's recent frequent recalls will also affect its brand image to a certain extent.
