AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/11 Report--
Honda China, one of the Japanese carmakers, was the first to report September sales. Data show that Honda's terminal car sales in China in September 2021 were 121448, a year-on-year decline of 28.1% due to tight supply of spare parts, including 61287 by Guangzhou Auto Honda and 60161 by Dongfeng Honda. In addition, Honda's cumulative terminal vehicle sales in China in the first three quarters of 2021 were 1107814, up 3.9% from a year earlier, including 540392 for Guangzhou Auto Honda and 567422 for Dongfeng Honda.
According to Honda's September terminal sales data, although there was a decline in September compared with September 2020, the month-on-month increase compared with August 2021 means that Honda is still affected by a "lack of core", but it has eased in September. Judging from the market performance of the two joint ventures, both Guangzhou Auto Honda and Dongfeng Honda can reach the level of 60,000 vehicles, up from August. However, due to the shortage of chips, Honda's sales growth in China is shrinking significantly from 9.9% in January-August in 2021 to 3.9% in January-September 2021, and Honda sales are more likely to decline in 2021 as the chip shortage continues to intensify.
Despite the month-on-month growth, Honda is not optimistic in China due to the shortage of chips and does not disclose the sales of specific products. According to the latest sales of Guangzhou Auto Honda, Feido sold 12355 vehicles in September, Haoying 13261 vehicles and colorful Intelligence 13893 vehicles. In addition, Accord sold 19907 vehicles in September.
In addition to Honda, Nissan China also reported its latest monthly sales. Nissan's sales in China in September were 104443 vehicles, down 26.2 per cent from a year earlier, according to the latest figures. Sales in the first three quarters totaled 1019742 vehicles, up 3.5 percent from a year earlier. Among them, Dongfeng Motor Co., Ltd. (Dongfeng Nissan and Qichen) sold 84754 vehicles in September, down 28.9 percent from a year earlier, Nissan 80022 and Qichen 4732. Cumulative sales in the first three quarters were 829327, up 2.7 per cent from a year earlier.
In terms of specific models, the Xuanyi series sold 39250 units in September, Teana sold 15970 units in September, Panda sold 3227 units, and Xiaoke sold 13588 units. As for the latest Qijun, Nissan did not disclose specific sales. It is also important to note that Nissan China reports wholesale sales, while Honda China reports terminal sales.
. Toyota has not released its latest monthly sales, but its performance in September is not expected to be optimistic. According to GAC GROUP's latest data, Guangzhou Auto Toyota has sold less than 50, 000 vehicles in February, of which sales were 42819 in August and 48300 in September, down 40.37% from a year earlier and up 12.80% from a month earlier.
In fact, under the influence of the current shortage of chips in the automobile industry, the decline in sales is nothing new. at present, since most of the chips need to be imported, and the epidemic in overseas markets is still at risk of spreading, there is no guarantee that the virus will not suddenly stop some factories in a place, or even paralyze the supply system of the whole region. In such a bad environment, the global semiconductor supply chain continues to affect the production and sales of global auto companies.
The automobile industry believes that the shortage of semiconductors will not end in the short term. Market analyst IHS Makit predicts that the shortage of automotive semiconductors will continue into the second quarter of 2022. As a result, while abandoning some car systems and mobilizing extremely weak measures to concentrate semiconductors on popular models with strong demand, global sales in 2022 are expected to be the weakest on record.
