AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/18 Report--

"Apple cars are just four-wheeled iPhone. If we can build iPhone, why can't we build electric cars?" Terry Gou, founder and former chairman of Foxconn, said at an internal meeting.

Foxconn, the parent company of Foxconn, held the Technology Day in Taiwan on October 18, officially launching the pure electric car brand Foxtron and bringing three new cars, namely, the all-electric sedan Model C, the all-electric SUV Model E and the electric bus Model T. From the point of view of the naming of the three models, they are all named in the form of the Model+ letter, which is somewhat similar to that of Tesla.

The Model E model is positioned as a mid-to-high-end luxury sedan for business customers. The appearance of this car is jointly developed by Honghua Advanced and the internationally renowned automobile design company Pininfarina. From the point of view of the appearance, the overall shape of the new car has a large sliding back coupe design style, and the front and rear lights of the new car are pierced design, and the charging interface is located in the right front fender.

The Model C model is the first model built by Honghua Advanced based on the open platform of MIH electric vehicles, which is developed for ordinary household users. In terms of appearance, the new car uses the same design style as the Model E, with through headlights at the front and rear, a small LCD dashboard and a suspended multimedia display.

The Model T is an electric bus with square shape and LED lights at the four corners of the front. It is understood that the new car has the output power of 260kW, 3000N ·m torque output, built-in large-capacity lithium iron phosphate battery, the range will exceed 400km, is expected to be put into use locally in 2022.

In fact, Foxconn's ambition to build cars was not formed overnight. As early as 2005, Foxconn bought a 100% stake in Taiwan's Antai Electric Co., Ltd., which is one of Taiwan's four major car harnesses. It mainly produces battery lines and car electronic equipment such as reversing radar. Since then, Foxconn has accelerated its layout in the automotive industry, including becoming a supplier to BMW, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz and other car companies, investing in Didi to enter the online ride-hailing industry, and investing in research and development of power batteries such as Ningde era. Foxconn's subsidiary, Industrial Fulian, will be listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange in 2018, which will also provide a boost for Foxconn to build cars.

In order to enter the car market, Foxconn has also partnered with car maker Baiteng Automobile. In January this year, Baiteng signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Foxconn Technology Group and Nanjing Economic and technological Development Zone. The three parties will work together to promote mass production of Baiteng new energy vehicle products and strive to achieve mass production of M-Byte by the first quarter of 2022. However, the Foxconn-Baiteng partnership has been shelved because of Baiteng's deteriorating financial situation. At the same time, at the beginning of this year, Foxconn signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Geely to set up a joint venture aimed at providing contract manufacturing and customized consulting services to global automobile and travel companies. including but not limited to complete vehicles or parts, intelligent control systems, automotive ecosystems and the whole process of the whole industry chain of electric vehicles.
