AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)10/22 Report--
On October 21, a former Faraday future China employee who had left office for three years reported to the media that his bank card received a future replacement salary from Faraday on September 30. According to the screenshot provided by it, we can see that the account of the payment is French Automobile (China) Co., Ltd., the summary of the information shows that the payroll is paid on behalf of the agent, and the transaction time is September 30, 2021. The employee said it was not convenient to disclose the amount of the replacement salary, but said that the replacement salary was basically in line with the salary deducted while on the job. It also revealed that FF had halved its salary since 2019, when it promised to compensate in the future. At present, most of the former FF colleagues around them have received repaid salaries, and current employees have received supplementary salaries earlier than those who have left.
It is worth noting that this background stems from the fact that Evergrande and FF simultaneously announced a restructuring agreement on December 31, 2018, declaring that the previous cooperation had failed. The partnership between Evergrande and FF dates back to November 2017, when FF reached a strategic partnership with Evergrande, which acquired a 45 per cent stake in FF for $2 billion (about RMB 13.87 billion), making it a major shareholder in FF, including $800m in early 2018 and $600m in each of the next two years. However, on October 7, 2018, Evergrande Health issued a notice saying that Jia Yueting had consumed 800 million US dollars that year in half a year, and asked Evergrande to pay another 700 million US dollars in advance. After failing to achieve the goal, Evergrande filed for arbitration, demanding that Evergrande be deprived of its right to financing consent and rescind all cooperation agreements. FF also issued a statement saying that Evergrande had not fulfilled its promise to pay any additional funds, but instead tried to gain control and block FF's new financing, so it applied for an arbitration rescission agreement. Finally, FF and Evergrande finally reached an agreement, and the two sides decided to shake hands. Evergrande no longer had to pay the remaining $1.2 billion, all FF assets were released, and Jia Yueting also had the right to buy back Evergrande's 32 per cent stake in FF within five years.
For FF at that time, there was a shortage of funds, and the funds brought by Evergrande's investment could be said to be timely help, but Evergrande's investment interruption FF immediately returned to the state of "capital shortage". FF had to cut wages and lay off employees at the time. According to earlier media reports, the number of employees in FF fell from 1100 in 2018 to about 600. in addition, most of the employees who joined FF in May 2018 stayed on without pay and cut their salaries by 20%. It is not difficult to see that Jia Yueting has not been happy all the way from the founding of FF to the listing of FF.
On July 22 this year, FF Faraday will be listed on NASDAQ in the United States through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) under the stock symbol FFIE. After the listing of FF, there is a lot of good news, first a limited edition of 300 FF 91 has been sold out, then there are media revelations that FF Faraday Zhuhai is in operation in the future. On September 19th, at the 919th Futurist Co-creation Festival, FF announced that substantial progress had been made in the cooperation between FF and Geely Holdings. In addition, FF China CEO Chen Xuefeng also revealed that FF91's first flagship stores in China will be located in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, and the Chinese market will contribute 70 per cent of sales in the future.
Judging from the incident that Faraday's former employees in China received compensation in the future, FF did raise operating funds after listing and financing, but car-building is an industry that needs to continue to "burn money", and a large amount of capital investment is an important part of supporting whether FF91 can be mass produced. FF still faces great challenges if it wants to survive in the car-building field.
