On October 28th, China Insurance Research C-IASI announced the results of the first batch of vehicle crashes in 2021, involving a total of five car brands and five models, namely Ford Ruiji, Mazda CX-30, Volkswagen ID.4X, Changan UNI-K, Guangzhou Auto Acura RDX,5 models are all SUV.

What is different from the past is that this batch of collision models adopts the China Insurance Automobile Safety Index regulations (version 2020). It is understood that a number of new test items have been added to the latest version 2020, including bumper frontal collision, bumper rear-end collision, automatic emergency braking-car to pedestrians and cyclists, lane deviation assistance, etc., among which the biggest focus is the addition of 25% offset collision on the front side of the occupant side, which is tied as an option. However, from the release of the test model, no car company participated in the passenger side front 25% offset collision.

First of all, let's take a look at Ford Ruiji. As a compact SUV of Changan Ford, it is currently a best-selling model under Changan Ford, with a 2.0T four-cylinder engine. A total of three models participated in the collision, of which the 2020 two-wheel-drive version of the EcoBoost 245 was tested by passengers and pedestrians outside the car, which is the lowest-equipped model with a price of 169800 yuan. Judging from the sub-item results, Ruiji's performance is not a big problem, but it has been generally (M) evaluated in terms of crashworthiness and maintenance economy. In the 25% offset collision of the side front, the A column of the sharp edge did not have obvious deformation, and the crew cabin was relatively complete after the collision, but only a small part of the front airbag and side air curtain came into contact with the dummies, and the protection of the dummies was not in place.

CX-30 is the latest small SUV launched by Changan Mazda, but the current performance of CX-30 in the market is not good. Sales in the past six months are 6364 vehicles, and monthly sales are basically maintained at the level of about 1000 vehicles. There is a big gap between colorful Intelligence / XR-V, Tange and other models. From the evaluation, we can see that except for the crashworthiness and maintenance economy, all the others are G (excellent), and the maintainability is evaluated by P (poor). In the side-front 25% offset collision, the A-column has no obvious deformation, the crew cabin is relatively intact, and the CX-30 can detonate in the knee airbag and the front side airbag after the collision to protect the safety of the occupants to the maximum extent.

ID.4X, the first pure electric SUV under SAIC-Volkswagen, was officially launched in January this year. As a compact pure electric SUV,ID.4 became the best performing car in this collision, all projects were awarded G (excellent). In the 25% offset collision of the side front, the A column was not obviously deformed, the crew cabin was relatively intact, and the living space was reserved for the passengers, and the front airbag and the side air curtain caught the head of the dummy. After the collision, the battery pack and the circuit system are intact, and there is no smoke and fire in the ID.4X.

The Changan UNI-K, the second mass-produced model in the Changan UNI series, was officially launched in March this year with an official price range of 15.39-184900 yuan. Consistent with the above models, except for A (good) in crashworthiness and economic maintainability, the others are G (excellent). In the side front 25% offset collision, the driver side A column has a certain deformation, but there is no obvious invasion of the crew cabin, the front airbag and side air curtain also caught the dummy's head, and G (excellent) is also relatively normal.

The last one is the RDX from Guangzhou Auto Acura, which is the only luxury SUV in the collision. As a luxury model, Acura RDX's collision record is commendable, but its presence in the luxury market is not very strong, with sales of 1392 vehicles in the past six months. Perhaps, for Acura, not "turning over" in the PICC test is the best result.

It is worth mentioning that the first collision models released by China Insurance Research Institute in 2021 are the Great Wall Tank 300, Mazda CX-30, Ford Ruiji, Toyota C-HR, Citroen Tianyi C5 AIRCROSS five models, with the exception of Mazda CX-30 and Ford Ruiji, other models did not appear.

C-IASI is one of the third-party vehicle evaluation institutions in China, but due to many disputes in the evaluation results of Haoying models, its rigor has been questioned. However, the 2020 version of the rules are more stringent than before, and it is more difficult for the tested models to get high marks, which can restore the reputation of Zhongbaoyan while forcing companies to improve product safety.
