In 2021, WEY brand adjusted its strategy and defined its brand positioning of "new generation smart car". At the same time, it introduced coffee intelligent platform and intelligent hybrid DHT scheme, and launched a number of models such as Mocha, Macchiato and latte to enhance its competitiveness. In addition, at this year's Shanghai Auto Show, Li Ruifeng, general manager of the WEY brand, said that Great Wall will restart the car project this year, with the WEY brand taking the lead in testing the water. The future brand-new platform and technology will extend WEY from 150000-200000 yuan price band to 150000-300000 yuan price range. Great Wall said that the WEY brand will launch 16 new models, including cars and MPV, from 2021 to 2023, further segmenting the market and breaking through the 650000-vehicle sales mark.

However, from the performance of the marketing department of WEY brand, its high-end market image is in jeopardy. Wei sold 4662 new cars in September, down 48.4 per cent from a year earlier, according to data. Cumulative sales in the first three quarters were 36158 vehicles, down 28.07% from the same period last year. All sales of the WEY brand in September were provided by Mocha, while sales figures for the VV series have not been available for months. From the perspective of a single model, the emergence of Mocha has indeed saved the WEY brand, because the total monthly sales of the three models of the VV series are only about 3000 vehicles, but it is obviously not easy to break through the 650000 sales mark. At present, the high-end image of the WEY brand needs to be revived, and it is not optimistic to rely solely on SUV "walking on one leg" in the short term.
