The data are mainly collected in 70 major Chinese cities during the period from January to June 2021.

The data measured in the study are the problems encountered by Chinese car owners with a consumer ownership period of between 13 and 48 months in the past six months. for example, 177 problem symptoms, including body appearance problems, interior problems, driving experience, configuration / control / dashboard, audio / communication / navigation / entertainment systems, air conditioning systems, seats and engine / transmission systems. The overall reliability is measured by the average number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100). The lower the score, the better the quality. According to the research report released by the company, the reliability of luxury cars has continued to decline in the past three years. With the lengthening of consumers' time of owning cars, all kinds of complaint information increases gradually.

According to the ranking data of luxury brands, Porsche ranks first in the reliability of luxury brands with a score of 120 PP100. Land Rover ranked second with 127P100s, while BMW ranked third in luxury brands with 128PP100 scores. Infiniti, Cadillac, Lincoln and Mercedes-Benz followed.

According to the data of the mainstream car brand ranking, GAC Fick PP100 ranks first in the reliability of the mainstream car brand, FAW Toyota ranks second with 125PP100, Dongfeng Peugeot 132PP100 and FAW Red Flag 132PP100 rank third. In addition to FAW Red Flag, Great Wall high-end brand WEY also squeezed into the top 10. Among the bottom 10 brands in the above list, only two joint ventures, Guangzhou Auto Honda and Buick, are listed, and the rest are independent brands.

From the independent brand ranking, a total of 13 independent brands on the list, of which FAW Red Flag (PP100) ranked first in the reliability of China's independent brands, but still higher than Porsche of luxury brands and mainstream brand Jeep, in which the "Star" brand was the independent high-end brand, Red Flag and WEY ranked in the top two, while Lectra was squeezed to the sixth place.

J.D. Power said in response to the research report: the weakening of the durability advantage of luxury cars does not necessarily mean that luxury cars are in decline, but that the speed of their progress has not kept up with consumers' expectations of the product. Compared with mainstream car brands, especially independent brands, luxury cars are more conservative in the design and development of infotainment systems and configurations. this is also easy to cause users to feel good in the early use, but will encounter lack of compatibility and practicality after long-term use, which will lead to poor response performance and other problems. Judging from the whole list, the reliability of independent brands is increasing. In recent years, independent brands have significantly improved their product strength, such as styling, design, technology and configuration, as well as reliability, after-sales, word-of-mouth and other comprehensive strength, and have been favored by many consumers. It will also have a certain impact on the luxury car market in the future. However, many car owners do not recognize it, because there is still a certain gap between independent brands and overseas brands, whether in product quality or service.
