A few days ago, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products and the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products. From now on, a total of 91 imported Model 3 vehicles will be recalled for the period from February 2, 2019 to October 20, 2019.
During the manufacturing process of some vehicles within the scope of this recall, the transverse connecting rod fixing bolts on the front subframe assembly may not be fastened according to the standard torque. After long-term use, the bolt may be loose or detached from the sub-frame, which may eventually lead to the front suspension lateral connecting rod protruding from the sub-frame, which will affect the vehicle handling and increase the risk of collision accidents.
It is understood that the lateral connecting rod represents the overall control of the steering system on the vehicle. Once the steering system is loose, broken or even lost, the overall stability and control of the vehicle will be greatly affected. And if the long-term loosening is ignored, it will also lead to a series of problems such as tire side wear and direction deviation, as well as different noises. In view of the above defects, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. will check the fastening torque of the transverse connecting rod fixing bolts on the front subframe assembly for the vehicles within the recall range free of charge. If the bolts are loose or missing, the bolts will be re-tightened to standard torque or new bolts will be installed; if the vehicle parts are damaged due to loose or missing bolts, the damaged parts will be replaced to eliminate safety risks.
Emergency measures: users should drive the vehicle carefully before the vehicle recall and repair, and contact Tesla service center for maintenance as soon as possible after the recall begins.
In fact, at the end of last month, Tesla announced in the United States a recall of part of the Model 3 produced during 2019-2021 and part of the Model Y produced in 2020-2021, totaling 2791 vehicles, due to the fact that the fasteners connecting the front suspension and subframe were not fixed in accordance with the correct specifications, and there may be hidden dangers of loosening, and in extreme cases, there are safety risks. As we all know, Tesla's domestic Model 3 began to be delivered at the end of December 2019. Before domestic delivery, Model 3 has been sold in China by import, so this recall of some imported Model 3 vehicles from February 2, 2019 to October 20, 2019. As for the Model Y, which officially went on sale in January this year, no imported models have been introduced before, so although it is recalled in the US market, it has nothing to do with China.
