According to the latest data from the Federation of passengers, retail sales of passenger cars in October 2021 were 1.717 million, down 13.9 percent from the same period last year, an increase of 9.8 percent from the previous year, of which 321000 were retail sales of new energy passenger vehicles, up 141.1 percent from the same period last year and down 3.9 percent from the previous month. From the data point of view, the domestic car market due to chip shortage led to a year-on-year decline, but has eased, new energy vehicles are once again showing blowout growth, but compared with the "Golden Nine" has declined.

New energy vehicles are growing against the market, and a number of car companies have sold more than 10,000 cars. It is understood that car companies that sold more than 10,000 new energy vehicles wholesale in September include BYD, Tesla China, SAIC General Motors Wuling, SAIC passenger cars, GAC Ean, and Xiaopeng Motor. BYD once again hit a new high, while Xiaopeng sold more than 10,000 vehicles for two months in a row.

According to the Federation of passengers, Tesla sold 54391 vehicles wholesale in China in October 2021, of which 40666 were exported, while the domestic retail volume was only 13725. For comparison, Tesla sold 56006 vehicles wholesale in September 2021, including 3853 for export and 53153 for domestic retail. Judging from the data, although the sales gap between Tesla in October and September is not big, there is a huge contrast between exports and domestic retail.

Why did this happen? As we all know, Tesla has two major vehicle manufacturing plants in the world, one in Texas and the other in Shanghai, China. At present, the Shanghai Super Factory has become an important production base for Tesla, which not only supplies the domestic market, but also sells to major markets around the world. As a result, Tesla gives priority to overseas markets in the first two months of each quarter, and does not deliver bulk to domestic consumers until the third month. For reference, Tesla sold 32968 vehicles in China in July, including 24347 for exports and 8621 for domestic sales. Tesla sold 44264 cars in China in August, including 31379 for exports and 12885 for domestic sales. It is understood that Tesla's newly built Berlin plant in Germany is only one foot short of putting into production, but it is hindered by local residents and relevant departments, and there is a lot of uncertainty about putting into production this year.

Based on this, Tesla's monthly ranking in the model list still changes greatly. Tesla's retail volume in China was only 13725 in October, and the sales of Model Y and Model 3 are not expected to be optimistic. According to the previous sales list, Hongguang MINIEV, BYD Qin PLUS DM-i, BYD Han, Xiaopeng P7, Chery eQ, ideal ONE and other models are very stable.

It is worth mentioning that against the backdrop of chip shortages encountered by global car companies, Tesla's sales have skyrocketed, exceeding 50, 000 vehicles for two consecutive months, and it is believed that Tesla's monthly sales of 50, 000 vehicles will become the norm in the future. Under the influence of all kinds of good news, Tesla's share price has continuously broken through its highs. So far, Tesla's share price is $1222, with a total market capitalization of $1.2 trillion, making it another US company with a market capitalization of more than $1 trillion after Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Google.
