On Nov.11, Tesla's official website in China showed that the expected delivery date for the Model Y standard battery life version was extended from 6 to 10 weeks earlier to 10 to 14 weeks. However, the Model 3 standard renewal delivery time has not been adjusted.

In response to the adjustment of the estimated delivery time of the Model Y standard battery life version, Tesla officials said that there are too many orders for the Model Y at present, which may affect the adjustment of its delivery time.

It is understood that the Model Y standard battery life version was launched in July this year. The price of the new car before subsidy is 291840 yuan, and the price after subsidy is 276000 yuan. At present, the domestic Model Y includes three models on sale, in addition to the Model Y standard battery life version, there are also long-life version and Performance high-performance version, starting at 347900 yuan and 387900 yuan respectively. According to the official website, the expected delivery date of the standard battery life version is 10-14 weeks, while the expected delivery date of the long battery life version and the Performance high-performance version is in the fourth quarter of this year.

As far as the Model Y model is concerned, the best-selling version is the standard endurance version, which may be the main reason Tesla adjusted the pickup date. However, for those who plan to order the Model Y standard battery life version, they will have to wait until the end of January next year at the earliest, or even after the Spring Festival. It is worth noting that the lifting time of the Model 3 standard battery life version has not been adjusted temporarily, which shows that the demand for Model Y models is greater, and domestic consumers pay more attention to them.

Of course, in addition to the hot sale of the product, the extension of the Model Y standard battery life may also be related to exports. Tesla sold 54391 wholesale vehicles in China in October, including 40666 for export, 13725 for domestic retail, 13303 for Model Y retail and 422 for Model 3, according to the association. That is to say, most of Tesla's exported models in October are Model 3. According to Tesla's current rhythm, if Tesla sells overseas in the first two months and exports Model 3 first, Model Y should be exported in the second month. That is to say, if there is no accident, the number of Model Y in China in November should be relatively "ugly", which may be the reason for exporting overseas, which will affect domestic delivery more or less, and the extension of delivery time is also expected.

At present, Tesla's sales figures are very strong under the influence of chip shortage in the whole automobile industry. According to Tesla's third-quarter earnings report, operating income in the third quarter of 2021 was $13.757 billion, up 57% year-on-year, with market expectations of $13.914 billion; net profit attributable to shareholders of the parent company was $1.659 billion, up 389% year-on-year, with market expectations of $1.257 billion. A total of 241300 electric vehicles were delivered worldwide in the third quarter of 2021, of which 232025 were delivered for Model 3 and Model Y and 9275 for Model X and Model S.

The Shanghai Super Factory has been operating at high capacity. According to relevant sources, Tesla Shanghai Super Factory currently produces 1600 Model Y vehicles per day, which is a significant increase from August. In August, the Shanghai plant produced 1000 Model Y vehicles per day, exceeding the 800 Model 3 vehicles per day. According to Tesla's second-quarter report, it disclosed that the annual production capacity of the Shanghai Super Factory was more than 450,000 vehicles. Tesla said at the time that due to strong U.S. demand and global average cost optimization, Shanghai Superplant would transform into Tesla's main auto export center.

Earlier, analysts at several investment companies said Tesla's deliveries in China should not be underestimated, saying that by 2022, China's deliveries are expected to account for 40% of Musk's total company deliveries. In addition, analysts say Tesla will deliver between 890,000 and 900,000 vehicles in 2021, double last year's 500,000 deliveries.
