AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/13 Report--

Recently, the announcement of trademark assignment / transfer has been published on the website of the State intellectual property Office. The announcement shows that BYD transferred the "Wei" trademark to Great Wall Motor free of charge, and the trademark "Wei" involved in the transfer announcement has an international classification of 12. According to inquiries, BYD Co., Ltd. applied for the trademark in January 2016 and was officially registered in April 2017. In April 2021, the application for transfer of the trademark was received, and the approval certificate was printed and sent on September 15. The entire transfer process was completed and transferred to the name of Great Wall Motor Co., Ltd.

As we all know, as early as 2012, BYD launched the "dynasty series" model, and now it has launched Qin, Tang, Song, Yuan and Han series models, of which the most recent is the "Han" model, which was officially launched in July 2020. the new car is the first model equipped with BYD's latest technology, "blade battery", which sold for 21.98-279500 yuan at that time. However, BYD has applied for more than this series of dynasty trademarks, such as Xia, Shang, Zhou, Zhao, Chu, Qi, Jin, Ming and Qing dynasties. Of course, whether BYD will continue to launch dynasty models or not depends on BYD's follow-up product plans, and applying for a trademark is only a way to protect the trademark.

Let's take a look at Great Wall Motors. It is well known that Great Wall Motor has five major car brands. In November 2016, Great Wall Motors launched its high-end brand WEY and named it "Wei Brand" in Chinese, taking its surname from founder Wei Jianjun. Not long ago, it was changed to "Wei Brand", but never named "Wei", for many reasons it was still influenced by the trademark. This time, BYD will transfer the "Wei" trademark to Great Wall Motors, and maybe Great Wall Motors will change the "Wei Brand" to "Wei".

With regard to BYD's trademark transfer, BYD said: BYD submitted an application for registration of the "Wei" trademark in January 2016 and decided to transfer it to partner Great Wall Motor this year. At the same time, Great Wall Motor transferred other registered trademarks to partner BYD. The two sides will work hand in hand to achieve common progress of Chinese brands.

In view of this, some netizens commented: "get along well with each other in China", "the big pattern of BYD", "this wave of atmosphere" …...

Of course, when BYD transfers the "Wei" trademark, it is almost certain that BYD will not launch the "Wei" model. It has been learned from the State Trademark Bureau that BYD is no longer mainly promoting the dynasty series, but a new ocean model series. The first model, Dolphin, was launched in August, and BYD also made it clear that following the launch of the first model, Dolphin, the ocean series plans to launch new models such as Seagulls, Seals and Seals to expand the product range and further enhance the company's influence. In addition to the "Ocean" series of models, BYD also applied for the "warship" series of trademarks, including cruisers, frigates, landing ships, battleships, destroyers and so on. Although it is not clear whether BYD will launch the above models, it is almost certain that the progress of the BYD dynasty series will be very slow.
