AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/22 Report--
Consumer report, an authoritative organization in the United States, released the latest automobile reliability survey report in 2021, and the ranking of reliability brands has changed greatly this year. Specifically, Japanese brands swept the top four, Lexus became the biggest winner, followed by Mazda and Toyota, and Infiniti's reliability improved significantly. On the contrary, brands such as BMW, Hyundai and Kia have fallen sharply.
It is understood that the Consumer report's analysis and rating of the reliability of new cars is based on the overall measurement of vehicle quality, including road test performance, vehicle owner satisfaction survey results, whether the vehicle is equipped with key active safety systems, and crash test results, which aims to make it easier and faster for consumers to find the best cars, SUV and trucks that meet their needs.
In the annual reliability report ranking of the latest Consumer report, Lexus, Mazda and Toyota are the three most reliable brands, with six brands in the top 10 coming from core brands and luxury brands of the three major Japanese car companies.
Lexus has the highest score of all car brands, and the Japanese carmaker has topped the list several times before, reporting that most Lexus models have high reliability, but the only exception, the LS, is well below average. In terms of specific models, GX scored 100 points, while RX, ES and UX were all above 60 points. In addition, Toyota is also a frequent brand on the list, with a reliability score of 71 in 2021, second only to Lexus and Mazda. In terms of specific models, the reliability scores of Prius Prime, Venza, Prius, Highlander and RAV4 Prime are all above 80, Carola 75, Camry 70, Asian Dragon 67, Senna 60, and RAV4 only 44.
Mazda's reliability score is second only to Lexus, down one place from the previous year. According to the report, Mazda uses lightweight structure and efficient engine technology to improve fuel economy, which is often ignored by consumers, but Mazda tends to provide flexible handling throughout the production line. In specific models, Mazda MX-5, CX-9, CX-5 reliability scores are 80 or more, but Mazda 3 is only 46 points.
Nissan and its luxury brand Infiniti have also made big progress in reliability this year, especially as Infiniti made it into the top five for the first time, up five places from the previous year. In terms of specific models, there is a serious differentiation between Q50 and QX50, with a reliability score of 90 for the former and 49 for the latter.
Porsche has always been the top European brand in the Consumer report, but it has slipped. Specifically, Porsche slipped to 13th place with an annual reliability score of 52, down two places from the previous year, with macan and cayenne at 61 and 43 respectively.
Among European brands, MINI is ranked 10th, Audi 15, BMW 17th, Volvo 20, Mercedes-Benz 23, Volkswagen 24, MINI and Volkswagen rising, but Volkswagen ranks 24 from the bottom, Volkswagen sells fewer models in the United States, but because users report many vehicle problems Over the years, Volkswagen has been ranked in the "consumer report" in the lower-middle level.
American brands as a whole are in a low position, and the reliability of the redesigned Explorer and Escape in 2020 is frustrating.
The second from the bottom is Tesla. Tesla's newly launched Model Y has more problems again. It's not just Model Y Model S and Model X that have dropped below average this year and lost recommendations from Consumer reports. At present, Tesla's only one recommended by the Consumer report is the Model 3 sedan, but it is still below average.
It is worth noting that due to insufficient survey data or too few models, consumer reports are unable to rank Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Fiat, Jaguar, Land Rover, Maserati, Mitsubishi and Polestar brands.
As a non-profit evaluation report magazine sponsored by the American Consumer Union, Consumer report publishes an annual report based on road tests, reliability data, car owner satisfaction surveys and safety performance. It buys all the cars to be tested on its own, and does not accept any promotion funds from automakers. Because of the comprehensive and meticulous evaluation of the Consumer report, many American consumers use the magazine's results as a reference to buy cars. The reliability data released this time are only part of it, and the annual ranking report is also worth looking forward to.
