In the annual Guangzhou auto show, Infiniti's new generation of QX60 debuted, the new car positioning medium and large SUV, will become Infiniti's third domestic model. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5127/2005/1767mm and wheelbase 2900mm respectively.

Through the window to see the interior layout, domestic Infiniti QX60 basically continued the overseas version of the design, using a new three-frame steering wheel, with high-definition 12.3in InTouch interactive display screen and dynamic instruments, 12.3in central control screen using a suspension design, and equipped with a 10.8inch look-up display system, air conditioning outlet using a penetrating layout, seat layout for 2cm 2 + 37 seat layout.

In terms of power, the domestic QX60 will be equipped with a 2.0T VC-Turbo turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 185kW (252hp), which will be matched by a 9-speed manual integrated gearbox.

Data show that Infiniti QX60 is a large and medium-sized SUV under Infiniti, the first generation of models are introduced into the domestic market through import channels, equipped with 2.5T gas-electric hybrid system, matching CVT gearbox, the current domestic price is 47.98-569800 yuan. At the March 15 evening of CCTV this year, Infiniti QX60 was publicly exposed, and a number of car owners complained that their vehicles had gearbox failures while driving, frequent power interruptions, steering / brake assist failures and other problems, endangering personal safety. In addition, the same situation will still occur after repeated maintenance or replacement of the gearbox, and the owner of the car with the expiration of the warranty will face huge maintenance costs. In the face of quality problems, 4S stores are required to sign a "confidentiality agreement" and shall not be made public to the media.

In June this year, Infiniti's new generation of QX60 official map was released, confirming that it will become the third domestic model after QX50 and Q50L. In terms of power, the new car is equipped with a 3.5L V6 in-cylinder direct injection engine with a maximum power of 299 horsepower, matching the ZF 9-speed automatic transmission and equipped with an optimized and upgraded four-wheel drive system.

Can the introduction of a new generation of QX60 into China save Dongfeng Infiniti's market predicament? Data show that Dongfeng Infiniti is a joint venture brand jointly funded by Infiniti and Dongfeng Motor in 2014, and this year is the sixth year that Dongfeng Infiniti has been established. After the localization of Infiniti, it did not develop as fast as expected. So far, Dongfeng Infiniti has only two models, Q50L and QX50, which are on sale. The pace of product update is slow, and the speed of model introduction and update lags behind that of other luxury brands. In the current market competition environment, it is difficult for either Q50L or QX50 to stand out. Infiniti's sales growth has slowed significantly since 2016, rising 3.4 per cent to 41600 vehicles in 2016. Infiniti fell for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019, to 48400, 47200 and 42300 respectively, and fell to 25700 in 2020, down 26.66 per cent from the same period last year.

After entering 2021, Dongfeng Infiniti's market performance further deteriorated. According to FIFA data, Infiniti sold 6785 QX50 vehicles and 1978 Q50L in the first three quarters of 2021, which means Dongfeng Infiniti sold 8763 vehicles in the first three quarters, with an average monthly sales of less than 1000 vehicles.

After it became domestic in 2014, Infiniti launched only two domestic models, and it is difficult to support sales growth in terms of brand influence, product competitiveness and product services. After many years, Dongfeng Infiniti will launch new domestic models again, but at present, whether it is domestic high-end brands or traditional luxury brands, the competitive pressure in the market is enormous. As a reference, the price of the QX60 sold through imports is 47.98-569800 yuan, which is equipped with a 2.5T gas-electric hybrid system, while the domestic QX60 is equipped with a 2.0T engine, and the starting price is expected to be around 400000 yuan. As the third domestic model, the QX60 may be able to drive sales of Dongfeng Infiniti, but unless you show more sincerity to save the market.
