AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)11/27 Report--
A few days ago, Beijing Hyundai Automobile Co., Ltd. filed the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration in accordance with the requirements of the regulations on the Administration of defective Automobile products recall and the measures for the implementation of defective Automobile products recall regulations. Decides to recall (I) a total of 88995 Sonata cars of the ninth generation produced between October 9, 2014 and October 7, 2017 from now on. (II) A total of 5530 Sonata hybrid vehicles of the ninth generation were produced during the period from 27 May 2015 to 12 September 2018.
Cause of recall: vehicles within the scope of this recall may not be able to correctly judge the signal received from the steering switch due to logic problems with the intelligent junction box (SJB) software. When turning on the left turn signal switch, the external turn signal and the dashboard turn signal are occasionally misdisplayed as the right side, which may increase the risk of vehicle collision and there are hidden dangers.
In view of the above defects, Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., Ltd. will upgrade the intelligent junction box (SJB) program for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge to eliminate safety risks.
As we all know, Beijing Hyundai Automobile Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Beijing Hyundai") was established on October 18, 2002. it has become the first Sino-foreign joint venture project in the field of automobile production approved after China's entry into WTO. On December 24th of the same year, the fifth-generation Sonata was officially put off the line as the first domestic model, with a price of 17.9-265000 yuan in China. The new car won good attention and market sales in the first year.
In 2005, the sixth-generation Sonata was launched and named Yuxiang, which is based on NF, a modern medium-sized car platform, with 2.0L and 2.4L engines. As the price of the car is much higher than that of the fifth-generation model after its launch, its sales are significantly lower than the fifth-generation model.
In December 2008, the seventh generation Sonata model changed its name to lead Xiang, which is the second model customized for Chinese consumers by Beijing Hyundai after Yuejin. The seventh generation Sonata was launched abroad only as a modified model, with little change compared with the previous generation of models, but Beijing Hyundai has changed according to the domestic market and improved the adaptability of the products. it is in line with the characteristics of the Chinese market and the preferences of Chinese consumers, and the sales volume after listing is significantly better than that of "Yuxiang".
In 2011, the eighth generation Sonata was listed in China, which is a medium-sized car officially launched by Hyundai Group of Korea in 2010 for the global automobile market. In 2011, Beijing Hyundai introduced the eighth generation Sonata model, which is known as "Sonata 8" in China. After its listing in China, it won very good sales for Beijing Hyundai, reaching 100454 in 2012 and 104670 in 2013, but sales in 2014 were significantly weak, selling only 54946 because Beijing Hyundai introduced the ninth generation Sonata.
At the 2014 Guangzhou Auto Show, Beijing Hyundai's ninth-generation Sonata was officially unveiled and officially launched in March 2015, selling in the same room as the eighth-generation Sonata. The two-generation models are sold for different market segments and people. Compared with the eighth generation model, the new car size of the ninth generation Sonata is one lap larger than that of the Sonata, and its design style is also different from that of the previous generation. However, sales of the ninth generation Sonata shrank significantly after listing, with sales of 64910 vehicles, 35998 vehicles, 12760 vehicles, 6693 vehicles and 2416 vehicles respectively from 2015 to 2020.
In order to turn the situation around, Beijing Hyundai officially listed the 10th generation Sonata in July 2020, with a price range of 16.18-205800 yuan. As a new replacement model, the overall shape of the new car is more radical and looks more visual impact. At the same time, the new car will provide 1.5T engine + 7DCT double clutch gearbox and 2.0T engine + 8AT gearbox power combination for consumers to choose from. However, sales of the 10th generation Sonata are not optimistic, with cumulative sales of 6089 vehicles from January to October in 2021, with an average monthly sales of about 600 vehicles.
In fact, Beijing Hyundai is already in trouble. Data show that 2016 was the peak of Beijing Hyundai, with annual sales reaching 1.1381 million vehicles, and then falling, with sales of 755700 vehicles, 782200 vehicles, 685100 vehicles and 384700 vehicles respectively from 2017 to 2020, with cumulative sales of 286149 vehicles in the first 10 months of this year, with an annual target completion rate of 50%. In order to reverse the difficult situation, Beijing Hyundai has launched Tusheng L, 10th generation Sonata, iX35, Elantra and other new cars since 2020, and launched the first MPV Cousteau in 2021, but only Elantra performed slightly better in terms of monthly sales, while other models sold very poorly.
Prior to this, there were media reports that the tenth generation Sonata currently on sale will not usher in a medium-term change, but plan to replace it directly in 2023. As for why to skip the mid-term upgrade directly, some analysts believe that it is mainly due to the fact that the appearance design of current models does not meet the approval of consumers, resulting in poor sales. In order to solve this problem, Hyundai decided to significantly advance the replacement time of Sonata.
