SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC General Motors are the profit sources of SAIC. Due to the impact of global chip shortage, the sales performance of these two joint venture brands is not optimistic. Sales are still declining for the whole year. According to specific analysis, compared with other SAIC brands, SAIC-Volkswagen fell sharply, selling 135001 vehicles in November, down 16.45% from the same period last year. SAIC-Volkswagen sold 1347985 vehicles from January to November this year, down 17.99% from the same period last year. SAIC GM sold 137026 vehicles in November, a decline similar to that of SAIC-Volkswagen.

It is worth mentioning that due to the shortage of global chip supply, global car companies have generally reduced production this year, and consumers' pick-up and waiting dates have been affected to a certain extent. According to the latest data from AutoForecast Solutions, as of December 5, due to chip shortage, the global automobile market has reduced production by 101.22 million vehicles this year. Among them, the cumulative production reduction in China's automobile market has reached 19.82 million vehicles, accounting for 19.6% of the total production reduction. AFS expects cumulative production cuts in the global car market to climb to 113.24 million vehicles this year, while the Chinese car market is expected to reduce production by 2.148 million vehicles, accounting for 19% of the total.

The main reason for the decline in sales of SAIC Volkswagen and SAIC GM has a lot to do with the shortage of chips. due to problems such as insufficient supply of spare parts, SAIC Volkswagen has temporarily arranged low-end models such as Santana to other models on the same platform. Tuguan L, Passat and other high-end models have monthly sales of more than 15000 vehicles, but according to the current sales status. Industry insiders point out that the decline is likely to continue in December.

In addition to the above analysis, the November sales data released by SAIC also show that SAIC's own brand sales are eye-catching, with SAIC's sales of 100087 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 25.45%, which is in sharp contrast to the sales of joint venture brands. This data also shows that compared with joint venture brands, domestic cars now seem to have more advantages.

SAIC Group's highest-selling brand is SAIC GM Wuling, which sold 193000 vehicles in November. Driven by Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, Capgemini and Baojun, the brand has also become the top seller of a single brand in China. In addition, the newly listed Wuling Star SUV of SAIC GM Wuling sold more than 15000 vehicles in November and quickly became a popular model in the market segment; on November 17th, SAIC GM Cadillac brand announced the opening of Cadillac real luxury pure electricity in large SUV LYRIQ pre-sale, the pre-sale price of 439700 yuan, the opening of pre-sale deposit orders have nearly 5000, the new car is expected to be delivered in the middle of next year.

According to statistics, SAIC sold 638000 new energy vehicles in the first 11 months of this year, and may exceed 700000 for the whole year. Among them, SAIC passenger cars sold 147000 new energy vehicles, while in terms of overseas sales, SAIC overseas sales reached 75000 in November. SAIC's cumulative overseas sales reached 603000 in the previous 11 months, ranking first among Chinese auto companies in overseas sales.
