AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)12/07 Report--
Whether it's mobile phones or electric cars, people always wait for product upgrades in a way that can't wait. However, recently, many BMW iX3 owners have encountered the problem of upgrading, which seems to be a real glitch. What's going on?
A BMW iX3 owner in Beijing told the media that he picked up his car at the end of July and went to the State Grid the next day to recharge the car. In early September, a sudden fault alarm of the car transmission system could not start. When the owner was driving normally on the road, he suddenly jumped to N gear and did not respond. The vehicle showed that the transmission system had been damaged, and the system required the owner to call the rescue call.
A similar situation also happened to another car owner in Shenzhen. The owner picked up the car in June, and the next day there was an abnormal problem of damage to the transmission system. After that, he went to the 4S store for inspection and was told that it only belonged to the eme control module fault programming. At the same time, the 4S store told him that the vehicle did not have any hardware problems. The owners of these cars who encountered problems were not long after picking up their cars, either the vehicles could not be recharged, or suddenly stopped when they were driving normally.
On October 26th, BMW notified its dealers of the failure in the name of a technology upgrade, and finally confirmed the problem. The notice shows that the false welding of the BMW ix3 battery pack during production may cause the entire power battery to suddenly lose power while driving, which is consistent with the situation encountered by car owners.
According to the official statement, a fault record will be added to the vehicle involved in the problem. when the high-voltage system is turned off, the vehicle will lose power and the vehicle will glide slowly until it stops. This means that in serious cases, it may cause the vehicle to lose power and cause traffic accidents. BMW manufacturers require the relevant vehicles to go to the 4S store to disassemble the entire power battery pack and replace the defective battery modules in 10 sets of battery modules. There are a total of 10 battery modules on the BMW iX3, and according to feedback from car owners, the number of battery modules that need to be replaced varies from one to more.
On November 17, 2021, brilliance BMW Factory issued a notice of "technology upgrade" service activity to car owners through the official APP, informing relevant car owners that "BMW found that there may be something wrong with your vehicle's high-voltage battery unit module during quality analysis." A car owner bought a new brilliance BMW iX3 in early July 2021 and received an upgrade notice on the home page of the MyBMWapp vehicle and on the vehicle display screen, and a few days before that, he had received some grapevine that the battery in the iX3 needed to be replaced, and then asked his sales consultant to finally confirm that the vehicle was within the scope of the manufacturer's recall and three sets of battery modules needed to be replaced. He found that the essence of the "upgrade" was to replace the high-voltage battery, the core component of the electric vehicle, and he believed that a four-month-old new car needed to remove the battery pack to disassemble and replace it, which in his view was tantamount to an overhaul.
Since July this year, many car owners have experienced this failure one after another. It was not until BMW's official upgrade notice that the owners knew what the real problem was and felt cheated and exploded. As a result, the problem of centralized complaint reflection began to appear, as the complaint problem became more and more concentrated, which led to a sudden outbreak of complaints about battery cars in BMW ix3 in November. According to the third-party car complaint website, BMW iX3 battery problems ranked third in November, followed by chip fraud by Ola good cats and stutter problems with Geely Star Rui's car.
In the notice of technology upgrade received by car owners, BMW particularly stressed that this is a completely free "technology upgrade" and not a "recall" activity for vehicles, so, as the owner of BMW ix3, should you be happy that you have enjoyed such a free service? Obviously, the car owners won't.
BMW officially offered a solution to the problem, but the owners did not accept it. Car owners think: 1. The purchase time of this batch of models is not long, most of them are new cars bought within a few months, obviously the quality of the car itself. Direct replacement of batteries will affect the value preservation rate of subsequent vehicles; 2. Car owners believe that at present, most of BMW's 4s stores do not even have the corresponding disassembly tools and do not have the ability to repair batteries, so they think that BMW needs to extend the vehicle warranty for the repaired vehicles and guarantee the three electric systems for life. 3. BMW invites car owners to the store for maintenance and upgrading, and carries out vehicle overhauls on the grounds of "technical upgrading" that car owners think. It is suspected of changing concepts and cheating. BMW needs to make compensation for this. Car owners think that BMW iX3 uses technical upgrading programs to evade quality defects and does not accept official repair and replacement programs. It is shameful to beautify 'recall' into 'upgrade'. " A car owner from Nanning, Guangxi, pointed to the BMW iX3's desire to cover up battery problems. The car owner said that the explanation of the so-called "technology upgrade" of the manufacturer could not be accepted or recognized by consumers.
In fact, the BMW iX3 has experienced three recalls since it went on sale in 2020. BMW was slow in the consumer electric market earlier, but because Mercedes-Benz and Audi have accelerated the production of domestic pure electric models. In November 2020, brilliance BMW launched its first oil-to-electric model, iX3,NEDC, with integrated mileage 520km on the basis of the X3. Sales of iX3 have been flat since its launch, selling about 1000 vehicles a month. Two months after it went public, BMW iX3 had to announce a price cut before sales improved. On January 27th, BMW announced that the price of BMW iX3 would be adjusted, reducing the price of all BMW models from 46.99-509900 yuan to 39.99-439900 yuan, a drop of 70, 000 yuan, and also refund the price difference for consumers who have already bought cars.
On May 28 this year, iX3 launched a recall due to design problems with the software of the battery control unit. Brilliance BMW Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 6636 domestic iX3 electric vehicles manufactured from September 1, 2020 to April 30, 2021, starting from June 1, 2021. BMW basically announced a recall of all iX3 sold. This is the third recall in the first half of its listing, due to the wrong positioning of the automatic retractor warp switch in the middle of the rear row, which may lead to a small scale when the seat belt cannot be fixed during emergency braking, followed by incorrect motor welding joints of part of the vehicle braking system, the braking distance will be extended when the vehicle needs emergency braking, at the same time, it will also lead to vehicle ABS function failure, there are safety risks recall.
And this "technology upgrade" is the same as the previous several times, it is also a process problem, it is difficult to believe that the BMW brand will appear many times in such a short time close to the nature of the problem, and car owners chose the quality of the brand, now encountered such a problem should not have been expected.
