Li Shufu is no longer chairman of Zhejiang Geely New Energy Commercial vehicle Group Co., Ltd., and the new chairman and general manager are Zhou Jianqun, according to the official website of App. Data show that Zhejiang Geely New Energy Commercial vehicle Group Co., Ltd. is wholly owned by Zhejiang Geely holding Group Co., Ltd., and the actual controller is Li Shufu. The company has yet to respond to the change.

The new chairman, Zhou Jianqun, joined Geely holding Group in 2014, led the founding of Geely Commercial vehicle Group, served as chairman of London Electric vehicle Company (LEVC) since 2019, and is now a director of Geely Holdings Group and the board of directors of Geely Commercial vehicle Group CEO and Hanma Technology. Prior to that, he served as director and general manager of Wanxiang Qianchao Co., Ltd in 1996, board of directors and vice president of Wanxiang Group in 2003, vice president of China Automobile Industry Association and expert committee of China Automobile Industry expert Committee.

In addition to stepping down as chairman of Geely New Energy, in January this year, Li Shufu also successively resigned from his post as director of Beichen Automobile (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and legal representative of Geely Technology Group Co., Ltd. In February this year, Li Shufu said in response to the resignation of Geely CEO that improper CEO is to promote the construction of modern enterprise management system, which is in line with national law and international practice.

According to public data, Li Shufu founded Geely Group in 1986, entered the automobile industry in 1997, served as chairman of Geely Group Co., Ltd., chairman of Zhejiang Geely holding Group from 1995 to 2021, served as global chairman of Volvo car Company since August 2010, and withdrew from the post of chairman of Zhejiang Geely New Energy Commercial vehicle Group in December 2021.

Before that, Li Shufu had a long entrepreneurial experience. Li Shufu started Geely's business process with refrigerator accessories as a starting point in November 1986, entered the motorcycle industry in April 1994, and established Geely Group Co., Ltd. in May 1996. Geely did not enter the automobile industry until 1997. Geely acquired Volvo in 2010 and became the largest shareholder by buying 9.7% of Daimler in February 2018.

Li Shufu has also made a lot of changes this year. First of all, in the field of new energy vehicles, Geely formed a new car company with Baidu to build smart electric vehicles, set up a joint venture with Foxconn to establish a joint venture for electric vehicle manufacturing, and cooperated with Jia Yueting's FF and participated in a small investment in the listing of FF SPAC. In cooperation with Tencent Holdings to develop smart car control and self-driving technology, what is most interesting is that in September this year, Li Shufu announced that he would enter the mobile phone field and start building mobile phones to locate high-end smartphones. the first mobile phone product is expected to be launched within 1-2 years, and the possibility of cooperation with Foxconn on mobile phone business is not ruled out. However, judging from the above entrepreneurial process, this is not the first time Li Shufu has crossed the border in a new field, so it is not surprising.

In fact, in the area of new energy vehicles, Li Shufu released the "Blue Geely Action" strategy as early as 2015, focusing on energy conservation and new energy vehicles, and plans to reach 90% of new energy products by 2020. Since then, Geely has accelerated its layout in the field of new energy vehicles, first releasing the high-end pure electric brand Geometry in Singapore, and then independent of the Polar Star brand from Volvo to focus on luxury electric vehicles. In addition, Lectra brand also issued a new energy strategy, Lectra 02 PHEV, Lectra 03 PHEV have been listed. However, despite Li Shufu's ambitions in the field of new energy vehicles, the plan of "Blue Geely Action" finally failed, with Geely's total sales of only 68100 new energy vehicles in 2020, accounting for only 5.16% of the total sales.

However, Li Shufu did not stop his attack on the field of new energy vehicles. Instead, after announcing the defeat of the Blue Geely Action Plan in February this year, he worked out a new Blue Geely Action Plan, this time focusing on pure electric smart vehicles.

When it comes to this, we have to mention another big "Fu" generation figure-- Wang Chuanfu, the founder of BYD. Earlier in the automobile industry, Geely, Great Wall and BYD were called the "top three of their own brands." among them, Geely, founded by Li Shufu, ranks first among the top three with sales advantage, which is not long. From the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles in the first 11 months of this year, from January to November. BYD's cumulative sales of new energy vehicles exceeded 500000, while Geely's cumulative sales were only 81000. There is a big gap between the two.

At present, Geely has a wide product line, covering low-end models, mid-and high-end models and flagship top models. According to the latest figures, Geely sold 135869 cars in November, down about 10% from a year earlier and up about 22% from a month earlier. Among them, the sales of new energy vehicles was 16161, an increase of about 137% over the same period last year. In the first 11 months of this year, Geely's cumulative sales reached 1169264, and the cumulative delivery volume reached 1173644, which only achieved 76% of the annual sales target of 1.53 million. This also means that Geely may not be able to meet the previously proposed annual target. In addition, although Geely has done something in new energy, sales have not improved much.
