Recently, a car owner in Hangzhou reflected to the media: the purchase of a BMW in the normal driving process, the airbag suddenly popped out, which frightened his family.

The incident happened on November 17, when the owner, Mr. Chen, and his family were about to get on the highway, but there was an accident when they passed the Xiasha Bridge in Hangzhou. According to the "1818 Golden Eye" report, Mr. Chen was driving a BMW 525, which was only mentioned in September this year. Mr. Chen said: the air curtain suddenly exploded when the car was running normally on the road. Judging from the sound emitted by the video, the sound of the car airbag explosion was louder, and the children in the car were scared to cry.

Then Mr. Chen drove the vehicle to a safe position to get out of the car and found that there was no collision before and after the car. From the video taken on the day of the accident, the safety air curtains on the sides of the four doors of the front and rear driver's seat of the vehicle all popped out. Fortunately, people are all right.

Mr. Chen was very confused about the sudden explosion of all the airbags of the car, so he contacted the 4S store to deal with it.

At present, Mr. Chen has received the accident handling order issued by the 4S store, which shows that according to the video of the traffic recorder and the analysis of the vehicle diagnostic data, the airbag computer recognizes the collision signal on the right side of the vehicle, triggers the right airbag, the safety air curtain on both sides and the seat belt tensioner. Through the video analysis of the driving recorder, there is a tire burst on the right side of the vehicle, and the shock wave smoke caused by the tire burst in the front area of the vehicle can be seen in the video, and the powerful shock wave causes the airbag computer to detect the collision signal on the right side, thus triggering the relevant airbags and seat belt tensioners. After professional monitoring, there is no relevant technical fault information in the vehicle passive safety system.

Zheng, manager of the after-sales department of Hangzhou Baoyi BMW 4S store, said: through some technical means, it was finally concluded that the cause of the airbag ejection was caused by a flat tire in the truck on the right side of the vehicle. Mr. Chen does not agree with this view.

Mr. Chen believes that the smoke said by the 4S store may also be produced when the air curtain popped out, and it cannot be judged that the smoke mentioned in the report was caused by a flat tire of the car next to it. Mr. Chen suggested calling the truck driver to ask if there was a flat tire that day.

In addition, Mr. Chen pointed out: it is suspected that the car from the 4S store on August 31 has serious quality problems and safety risks, so if the car quality problems caused the air curtain to pop up and asked the 4S store to recall the vehicle. Manager Zheng said that if Mr. Chen had doubts about the results of the investigation, he could apply to a third-party testing agency for monitoring, and the quality doubts raised by Mr. Chen would also actively feedback with the manufacturer. If there is a problem as Mr. Chen said, it will be responsible to the end, but with regard to this batch of cars, the 4S store has not received similar feedback from other car owners so far.

At present, the 4S store said that it would discuss with the manufacturer and reach an agreed plan with the customer as soon as possible, and Mr. Chen said he was willing to cooperate.

Whether the airbag pops up or not has something to do with whether it touches the airbag sensor during the collision. It is understood that the working principle of the airbag is that the sensor senses the collision strength of the car and transmits it to the controller, and the controller receives and processes the signal of the sensor. When the controller determines that it is necessary to open the airbag, it immediately sends out an ignition signal to trigger the gas generator, which quickly produces a large amount of gas after ignition, and unfolds a gas-filled airbag between the driver and the internal structure of the car. So that the driver's body does not collide violently with the hard structure of the car, thus reducing the injury.
