In the era of the great leap forward in electric cars, the whole automobile industry is redesigning brand-new models. On December 17th, Mercedes-Benz officially announced the domestic price of its all-electric large car "Mercedes-Benz EQS", which ranges from 1.0796 million to 1.5186 million, and is expected to go on sale early next year. It is understood that Mercedes-Benz Electric flagship new EQS has launched a total of four configuration models for consumers to choose from, including EQS 5804MATICMagi EQS 450 + first special edition, EQS 450 + deluxe version, EQS 450 + vanguard version.

As the flagship model of the Mercedes-Benz EQ family, the Mercedes-Benz EQS is the first model based on Mercedes-Benz's new pure electric platform-EVA, which is different from previous models such as EQC. Mercedes-Benz EQS is positioned as a luxury large pure electric car and is an electric vehicle built on a real pure electric platform.

At the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show held in April this year, the Mercedes-Benz EQS has been officially unveiled in China. In terms of appearance and styling, Mercedes-Benz EQs retains the design points of the concept car and tends to the sports style as a whole. Mercedes-Benz EQs integrates the latest design elements of the EQ family, the front face is designed with a closed intake grille, the headlight group integrates intelligent digital headlamps and penetrating LED daylight belts, and the soft headlamp shape is integrated with the grille. The rear part of the car is also very unique, and the new car uses a hatchback rear door design, which is relatively rare in Mercedes-Benz models of this level.

In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car is 5216mm/1926mm/1512mm, and the wheelbase is 3201mm, which is close to the S-class of Mercedes-Benz currently on sale. It is worth noting that the wind resistance coefficient of the new car is only 0.2Cd, which is the lowest among the mass-produced cars at present.

In terms of interior decoration, the interior of the new car provides two major design styles: the through OLED large screen style equipped with MBUX Hyperscreen system and the traditional vertical layout. Among them, the penetrating OLED large screen of the new MBUX Hyperscreen system is composed of a whole panel and three screens, which replace the past physical keystrokes. According to reports, this system is equipped with 8 cores of CPU and 24GB memory as well as Nvidia Xavier AI chips, and common functions can be easily operated without scrolling and turning pages.

In terms of power, Mercedes-Benz EQs offers two power versions, EQS 450 + and EQS 580 4MATIC, both of which are equipped with 108.7 kWh lithium battery packs. Among them, the basic model version EQS 450 + carries a single motor with a maximum power of 245kW and a peak torque of 568Nm, while the flagship version EQS 5804MATIC is equipped with a dual motor with a maximum power boost of 385kW and a maximum torque of 828N ·m. In terms of range performance, the mileage under WLTP conditions is 770km.

The battery capacity of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is 107.8kWh, and the data show that the power consumption of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 450 + is 16.0-19.1 km. The power consumption of the Mercedes-Benz EQS 5804MATIC+ is 16.9-20.0kWh/100km. In addition, the official warranty for the battery pack is 10 years or 250000 km. In terms of charging time, based on the 400V high voltage battery system, it takes 48 minutes for EQS to charge 10% to 80% of electricity in the case of 110kW DC charging, and the fastest can be achieved in 37 minutes under specific charging power conditions (charging power up to 145kW).

In the pure electric luxury car competition, from the announced model positioning, there seems to be no direct competitor at present, however, some industry insiders pointed out that the future competitors of Mercedes-Benz Taycan will be Porsche EQs, Mercedes-Benz EQS pays more attention to the construction of luxury, in comparison, Taycan focuses more on sports attributes, but the two are similar in price.
