According to public information, the WEY brand was founded in 2016, named after the company's founder Wei Jianjun, and the previous models were named "VV+ Digital", including VV5, VV6 and VV7. According to data, both the VV7 and VV5 produced by WEY in 2017 sold more than 10,000 vehicles a month, and the annual sales reached 86000 vehicles that year. In August 2018, WEY VV6 was officially launched, and the WEY family product camp was further enriched, with annual sales reaching 139500 vehicles that year.
Since then, WEY sales have begun to decline. Year-on-year sales fell 28.28% to 100000 in 2019 and 21.53% to 78500 in 2020, with sales of all models falling. Sales of WEY were also depressed in 2021, with cumulative sales of 48000 vehicles from January to November in 2021, down 29.46% from a year earlier, making it the only brand under Great Wall to decline.
WEY seems to have abandoned the VV series models, although the VV series models are still on sale, but there are no specific sales figures, and the main coffee series products are driving the development of WEY. It is understood that the WEY coffee series has mocha, macchiato, latte three models on sale. On May 21, the WEY Mocha officially launched, the new car is the first model based on the "coffee intelligence" platform, positioning medium-sized SUV, the price range is 17.58-218800 yuan. On November 17th, WEY Macchiato DHT officially went on sale as a compact SUV with a price range of 16.68-177800 yuan. The newly launched WEY latte body size and price are between the two models, providing consumers with more choices.
The main targets of WEY brands include Changan UNI series, Geely Lock and other brands. As a compact SUV, WEY latte will face the market competition pressure from Lengke 01, Changan UNI-T and other models in the future, and hybrid technology and intelligent configuration will be the main advantages of latte. As for the transformation of the WEY brand to develop a series of coffee models, whether it can save its current market performance is still unknown. Since its launch, Mocha has sold 23700 cars and Macchiato 2632, according to the Federation of passengers.
