According to eyewitness Ms. Lin, at more than 7: 00 on December 22, when she was passing the conch road in Jiyang District, Sanya City, she saw an electric car parked on the road caught fire inexplicably. It was just a light of smoke at first, but soon the fire spread.

At present, the cause of the sudden fire of the Weima electric vehicle is under further investigation, and Weima has not made any response to this report.

It is worth noting that in the past two days, the media reported that at about 4: 00 a.m. on December 20, a new energy vehicle that was charging suddenly caught fire at a charging station near Changjiang Road, Biyun Road, Zhengzhou. From the scene photos, the appearance and wheels of the car are very close to the EX5 model of Weimar, which is suspected to be Weimar EX5.

The specific cause of the fire is not known, and Weimar has not confirmed the incident.

The spontaneous combustion of electric vehicles is no longer a rare problem. In fact, the spontaneous combustion of Weima electric vehicles is not the only one. As early as October last year, three spontaneous combustion accidents of Weimar cars attracted attention.

On October 5 last year, a parked Weima EX5 electric car caught fire by the side of the road and the whole vehicle was scrapped. On October 13, a Weima electric car in Shaowu, Fujian Province caught fire while charging, causing serious damage. On the evening of October 27th, a spontaneous combustion accident also occurred in Zhongguancun, Beijing. Residents around said they heard a violent explosion and a clear shock, and the scene was filled with a pungent smell.

This incident not only affected car owners' concerns about the safety of new energy vehicles, but also dealt a serious blow to Weima brand. Subsequently, Weimar also clearly pointed out that the accident was caused by battery quality and took the initiative to file the recall plan with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration.

Weima Motor has decided to recall a total of 1282 Weima EX5 and Weima EX6 models produced from June 8, 2020 to September 23, 2020 and equipped with ZNP3914895A-75A power batteries from October 28, 2020.

The reason for the recall is that battery suppliers mixed with impurities in the production process, resulting in abnormal lithium precipitation of power batteries, there is a hidden danger of fire, in addition, Weimar also proposed to replace the power battery packs provided by other suppliers free of charge.

It is worth mentioning that recently, Shen Hui, founder of Weima Motor, has also spoken frequently on issues related to the development of electric vehicles.

Shen Hui, founder of Weima Automobile, wrote on his personal Weibo on December 20: "every time I hear the car owner complain to me about the difficulty of installing charging piles, I have a heavy heart. This year, Weima delivered more than 40,000 vehicles, but nearly 20,000 of the charging piles distributed with the vehicles could not be delivered. " On the evening of December 21, Shen Hui said again: "if you use a smart car, you can't go back." Shen Hui said: "the thermal efficiency of internal combustion engines can not meet the needs of the development of low-carbon society, which is the most important reason why oil trucks have been replaced." The essential properties of oil cars and trams are substitution, but trams start with catapult-like response, slippery gearshift, and quieter NVH features. This is all the fun that oil trucks can't give. Traditional oil trucks and intelligent pure electric cars should not be completely opposed to each other, but if they can't go back, they just can't go back, "which later sparked discussion among netizens.

It is understood that as of November this year, Weima has delivered a total of 83624 vehicles, which is in the forefront of the new car-building forces. at present, the four models Weima E.5, Weima EX5, Weima EX6Plus, and Weima W6 are on sale, but these four models are all equipped with ternary lithium batteries, which are characterized by poor stability and easy to explode and catch fire. Therefore, in the case of the gradual improvement of the development of Weima Automobile, solving the safety problem may be the top priority of Weima Automobile, for consumers, the safety of new energy vehicles is the top priority.

So far, Weima Motor and the local fire department have not explained the two spontaneous combustion accidents mentioned above.
