On December 30, the new Dongfeng Honda Alishen was officially launched. Four new models were launched with a price range of 2798 - 331,800 yuan. As a contrast, the old model sold for 29.48- 328,800 yuan, and the starting price was reduced by 1500 yuan. Compared with its sister model Odyssey, the new Odyssey sells for 23.58- 354,800 yuan, starting at 4400 yuan higher.

From the appearance point of view, the new car adopts a brand-new design style, the front face is equipped with a large size matrix air intake grille is very eye-catching, the upper chrome trim strip and the headlights are integrated into one, widening the visual effect of the front face. The headlights will use LED light sources with a water turn signal effect. From the side, there is not much difference from the old model, it is still the traditional MPV body structure. At the rear, a new blackened design with through-chrome trim strips and an electric tailgate with induction opening. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4951/1842/1711mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900 mm.

On the interior side, the new Alishen features a brand-new design of the center console, a suspended 10-inch center screen, a built-in Honda CONNECT 3.0 system and a new push-button shifting mechanism. In addition, the new car has been upgraded for the rear seats and introduced a new red and black interior color scheme.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with the third generation i-MMD hybrid system, which consists of a 2.0L naturally aspirated engine combined with an electric motor. The comprehensive maximum power is 215 horsepower. The transmission is equipped with E-CVT gearbox.

It is worth mentioning that on December 27, the mid-term modification of the fifth generation of GAC Honda Odyssey was also officially launched. Seven new models were launched with a price range of 235,800 - 354,800 yuan. Compared with Alishen, Odyssey has changed a little more. There is basically no shadow of the old Odyssey. Its front air intake grille becomes wider, the front grille blends with the headlight eyebrows, and the whole front face becomes thicker. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new Odyssey are 4861/1820/1712mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2900 mm. Compared with Alishen, there is a certain gap. The length of Odyssey is 90mm shorter and the width is 22mm narrower than Alishen.

In terms of interior decoration, the layout of the new Odyssey is basically the same as that of the new Alishen, with 7-inch TFT LCD dashboard and 10.1-inch suspended central control screen, built-in Honda CONNECT3.0 intelligent interconnection system, support voice assistant, car home interconnection, OTA upgrade, etc. In terms of power, it is also consistent with Alishen. The new Odyssey is equipped with a 2.0L hybrid system matched with an E-CVT transmission.

It is understood that Honda Odyssey officially entered the domestic market in 2002. After more than ten years of word-of-mouth accumulation, it has now become one of the top ten MPV models in the domestic automobile market. Currently on sale is the fifth generation of the Odyssey model, launched in 2013 and has been "in service" so far, recently launched as the fifth generation mid-term modified version. As a sister model of Odyssey, Dongfeng Honda Alishen was officially put into production in China in 2012, belonging to the second generation model of Odyssey. In 2016, the brand-new generation of domestic Alishen was officially launched, but this generation of models was only launched in the Chinese market and belonged to the same platform model as the fifth generation Odyssey at the same time. This launch model can be regarded as the mid-term modified version of the second generation Alishen.

According to the data released by the Association, the sales volume of MPV models from January to November 2021 was 982,000 units, up 3.1% year-on-year. According to the sales volume of specific models, Wuling Hongguang ranked first with 226,300 vehicles, followed by Buick GL8 and Chuanqi M8 with sales volume of 147,300 and 64,800 respectively. As Honda's two models in the MPV market, Odyssey's market performance was slightly worse than that of Alishen, with cumulative sales of 48,500 units and 43,700 units.

Since the second half of the year, more and more automobile enterprises began to lay out MPV market, such as GAC Toyota Sana, Dongfeng Yueda Kia Jiahua, etc. These models should not be underestimated in terms of product performance, and they are also competitors of Odyssey and Alishen. Today, Honda MPV also ushered in mid-term changes to better compete with the above models. In contrast, the price of Odyssey and Alishen is lower, and the rumor of price increase in the market is not, perhaps consumers will be more willing to choose the above models.
