AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/05 Report--
Today's media revealed a set of spy photos of BYD's new model, codenamed "Seal", which could be the second all-electric car in BYD's ocean series after dolphins and is expected to go on sale in the second quarter of this year.
It is understood that the new car is based on BYD e platform 3.0 and is aimed at pure electric sedan cars. Seals will be put into production at BYD's Changzhou base, with an annual production capacity of 60, 000 and a monthly sales of 5000, while BYD officials have previously said that a pure electric sedan will be launched to compete with Standard Tesla Model 3. According to the announced sources, seals will directly target Tesla Model 3.
In terms of appearance, due to the camouflage of the new car, it is only known that the new car is suspected of retaining hidden door handles, rimless doors and a slippery rear design. On the whole, the seal uses a dolphin-like headlamp design. In terms of body size, according to the previously exposed body information, the length, width and height of the new car are 4770/1860/1460mm, wheelbase is 2900mm, positioning entry medium sedan run, the size is between Qin Plus EV and Han EV.
The interior layout has not been officially announced, but the new model "Seal", like the "Dolphin", is based on BYD e platform 3.0, so the interior is also expected to use the ocean design style.
In the power part, the new car will provide rear-drive and four-wheel drive powertrain, and will be equipped with ultra-high energy density blade battery, support 800V high voltage platform, pure electric range of up to 700km, four-wheel drive performance version of zero-hundred acceleration is only 3.3s.
In terms of competitors, in terms of the body size, configuration and power of BYD's new model Seal, the new car "Seal" will compete with Tesla Model3. At present, all data of the new car "Seal" are better than Tesla Model3, but the vehicle price and appearance of "Seal" are not very clear. Perhaps only after BYD announces all the parameters of the seal will it be able to locate the final market performance more accurately.
At present, there is only one model in the BYD Ocean series. On August 29th last year, BYD officially launched the dolphin model, which is positioned as a small car, with a total of four models, with a price of 93800 yuan to 121800 yuan after comprehensive subsidy. At the design level, dolphins, as the first model that uses marine design aesthetics, use a lot of marine elements in vehicle design, such as the roof shape is very similar to marine dolphins jumping out of the sea, so it is also known as "pure electric new species". In terms of power, the dolphin is equipped with a drive motor codenamed TZ180XSF, maximum power 70kW, peak torque 180N ·m, and lithium iron phosphate blade battery, offering 301km and 405km mileage options. According to BYD's previously released data, its order for dolphins exceeded 2,000 within an hour after it began pre-sale on Aug. 13, indicating that BYD dolphins are very popular with consumers.
In terms of car sales, BYD's sales of pure electric vehicles continue to be boom. on January 4, BYD released figures for December 2021 and overall sales. BYD sold 730093 vehicles in 2021, up 75.4% from the same period last year. Among them, sales of new energy models were 593745, up 231.6% from the same period last year. Among them, dolphin models sold 10016 vehicles in December and accumulated sales of 29598 vehicles from August to December 2021. According to the data, the launch of dolphins has further contributed to the increase in BYD's overall sales, so the arrival of seals is expected to fill the market gap between Qin PLUS EV and Han EV.
According to BYD's plan, most of the models basically sold by Ocean Network in the future will be new energy models, including ocean series and warship series, and ocean series will be all pure electric models, such as the previously listed "dolphin". In addition to the listed "dolphins" and the above-mentioned "seals", the future BYD Ocean series will also launch "Seagull" and "Sea Lion" models based on e-platform 3.0. The seagull will be a small car that will be positioned lower than the dolphin but slightly higher than the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, or an entry-level model for the ocean series. The sea lion is located in the medium and large SUV, against the standard Tesla Model Y. Sea lions are expected to go public in the fourth quarter of this year. The emergence of these models will further improve the layout of BYD in the 100000-200000 market, and will also form a differential development with the current dynasty series models.
