According to media reports, a preview video of a suspected new Foxconn pure electric car appeared on the official website of Foxconn Group. The video is only 8 seconds long, but from the outline lines of the new car in the video, we can see that it is a four-door sedan. The model looks much smaller than the previously released Foxconn E, and the headlights also have a clear outline. As a result, some media interpreted it as Foxconn to release a new model to rival Tesla Model 3. However, it is very embarrassing that some netizens said: Foxconn's new car promotional film is from the material website.

After comparing and verifying, some netizens found that the video that appeared on Foxconn's official website was highly consistent with the material being sold on a website.

After further inquiry, it was learned that the material was put on the shelf in 2019 and is currently priced at 19 yuan.

In this regard, many netizens said: this promotional film is somewhat perfunctory.

So far, Foxconn officials have not responded to the above reports.

In fact, as early as October 18, 2021, Foxconn launched the pure electric car brand Foxtron and brought three new cars, namely, the all-electric sedan Model C, the all-electric SUV Model E and the electric bus Model T.

On that day, it happened to be the birthday of Hon Hai founder Terry Gou, and he personally drove the Model E at the press conference. According to the data, the Model E has a long 5100mm, a wide 2000mm and a wheelbase 3100mm, which is located in a medium and large car. The three models are planned to be built by Honghua Advanced, a joint venture between Foxconn's parent Hon Hai Group and Nazhijie's Yulong Group, the first time Foxconn has shown its products to the outside world since it announced the construction of the car.

According to public data, Foxconn was founded in 1988. In 2007, Foxconn became Apple's largest contract manufacturer for manufacturing iPhones, but Foxconn's net profit began to shrink after 2017. Foxconn has to develop diversification, and cross-border car building is a more popular cross-border project.

Back to the topic of Foxconn car building, Foxconn entered the auto industry in 2005. In 2005, Foxconn spent 360 million yuan to acquire a 100% stake in Antai Electric, one of Taiwan's four major car harnesses. Since then, Foxconn has been preparing to start the car-building business. After that, there are also reports in the industry that Foxconn has been in contact with Geely Motor, Yulong Automobile, Jianghuai Automobile, BAIC and other automakers, but Foxconn did not admit the outside rumors. No car building project has ever been started.

In 2013, Foxconn became a supplier to BMW, Tesla, Mercedes-Benz and other car companies. In 2016, Foxconn invested in Didi to officially enter the ride-hailing industry. In 2017, Foxconn invested in Ningde era to enter the battery field. In 2018, Foxconn's subsidiary Industrial Fulian listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and Foxconn made further progress in building cars. After entering 2020, Foxconn accelerated the layout of the automobile field, successively signed contracts with a number of car companies to set up joint ventures, until the end of the same year, Foxconn began to reveal that it would enter electric vehicles.

In January 2021, Foxconn Technology Group signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Baiteng Motor and Nanjing Economic and technological Development Zone. The three parties worked together to promote mass production of Baiteng new energy vehicles and said that they would achieve mass production of M-Byte by the first quarter of 2022. However, the Foxconn-Baiteng partnership has been shelved because of the deterioration of Baiteng's financial situation. But this does not affect Foxconn to speed up its layout in the automotive industry. At the same time, Foxconn also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Geely. The joint venture between the two sides is intended to provide contract manufacturing and customized consulting services for global automobile and travel enterprises, including, but not limited to, complete vehicles or parts, intelligent control systems, automotive ecosystems and the whole process of the whole industry chain of electric vehicles. In November of the same year, Foxconn spent a lot of money to acquire the former GM plant.

Liu Yangwei, chairman of Foxconn, once said: "in the past year, we have completed a cooperative project almost every month to ensure our supply chain capabilities and the potential market for electric vehicles." We are no longer new to this field. " Liu Yangwei also said that Foxconn aims to achieve annual revenue of NT $1,000bn (US $35.78 billion) from electric vehicle-related businesses by 2026. According to Foxconn's latest car-building plan, Foxconn will begin mass production of electric vehicles in markets such as the United States and Thailand in 2023. It remains to be seen whether Foxconn can achieve mass production of electric vehicles on schedule in 2023.
