AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/12 Report--

Han Chao, the owner of Tesla's rights activist car, recently posted a set of records of Tesla's accident and group chat on Weibo, showing that the wheels of a Model Y car are suspected to have fallen off on the highway, causing major damage to the vehicle. According to chat transcripts released by the blogger, the suspected owner of the accident described that he was driving on the highway at a speed of about 110 kilometers per hour when the right rear wheel of the vehicle suddenly fell off and the vehicle lost control and crashed into a large truck nearby. And was pushed by the truck for about 300 meters.

From the exposed pictures of the accident scene, the right rear wheel of the Tesla Model Y has basically been completely deformed, including the rear suspension connecting rod. The owner said: "the right rear wheel of the vehicle fell off directly instead of a flat tire. Half a month before the accident, the vehicle I was driving had just been maintained at the Tesla after-sales center. I do not know why the right rear wheel suddenly fell off when driving at high speed." The owner wondered, "the right rear wheel of the vehicle is not a flat tire, but directly falls off."

It is worth mentioning that on December 3, 2021, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued an announcement that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will recall a total of 21599 domestic Model Y electric vehicles from February 4, 2021 to October 30, 2021.

The reason for the recall is that the strength of the front and rear steering knuckle may not meet the design requirements due to the manufacture of some vehicles. The steering knuckle may be deformed or broken during the use of the vehicle, which may cause the suspension connecting rod to break out of the steering knuckle under extreme force, which will affect the driving control of the vehicle, increase the risk of collision accidents, and there are hidden dangers. In view of the above defects, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will inspect the front and rear steering knuckle of the vehicle in the recall area free of charge, and replace the steering knuckle whose strength does not meet the requirements, in order to eliminate the safety hidden danger.

Just before the release of the recall, some car owners had exposed that the Model Y suspension had fallen off and pointed out that it was not an isolated case. A Model Y owner posted in the community that he was driving Model Y while parking on a flat road when he suddenly heard a loud noise and the car obviously sank, and then got out of the car to check and found that the right front wheel had been misplaced. From the pictures exposed by the owner, the right front side of the Model Y obviously sinks, and the wheel arch "lies" directly on the tire. Seen from the bottom of the vehicle, it was suspected that the suspension arm had fallen off and a number of bolts fell to the ground.

After the accident, the car owner immediately contacted the staff of Tesla service center and the accident surveyor of the insurance company. The owner said that the surveyor initially determined that the problem of the vehicle was not caused by the accident and that the front swing arm fell off, and the insurance company was unable to rescue the vehicle, because the fall off of the swing arm may cause secondary damage to the vehicle. Tesla service technician said that there is no sign of external force collision traces, excluding the possibility of suspension shedding caused by external force impact. In this regard, the owner believes that the Model Y front suspension shedding is a natural fault.

Model Y wheels are suspected to have fallen off, and whether it is related to the previous Tesla recall, Tesla has not responded yet.

Tesla sold 70847 vehicles in China in December 2021, breaking the 70, 000 mark for the first time, according to data released by the Federation of passengers on January 11. In 2021, the delivery volume of Shanghai super factories reached 484130 vehicles, accounting for 51.7% of Tesla's global delivery volume of 936000 vehicles. China's market ranks first in the world, of which more than 163100 vehicles are exported to overseas markets to meet the needs of Japan, India and other countries.

However, Tesla also had a lot of negative news last year, such as the unresolved incident of safeguarding rights at the Shanghai auto show. At the same time, while sales hit a new high, Tesla also launched a record number of recalls due to product quality in the past year. According to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration, Tesla recalled a total of 543800 electric vehicles in China in 2021, ranking fourth after Mercedes-Benz, Wuling and Toyota.
