The appearance of the new Song MAX DM-i continues the "Dragon Face" family design language, and there is not much difference compared with the current Song MAX DM, but the overall design is more simple, and the sharp shape of the headlamp group uses a parallel light source layout, which has a higher degree of recognition after lighting. The rear part of the car is mainly updated on the lamp group and the lower enclosure, and the new style of penetrating taillights enhances the recognition. In addition, the rear LOGO has been changed to the English alphabet, which is consistent with BYD's latest model.

The most significant change of the new car is that the premium and executive models are equipped with an integrated upgrade roof, which is more in line with the needs of users for the MPV model. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the ordinary model are 4710/1810/1690mm, the height of the model with a hatch is 1880mm, and the wheelbase is 2785mm. It is worth mentioning that the upgrade top version uses a 6-seat layout, while the ordinary version has a 7-seat layout, of which 105 km Honor and 105 km flagship models can be selected with 6 seats.

The layout of the car also continues the design of the current model, using the combination of full liquid crystal instrument and large central control screen, and the center console and door panel will be equipped with light color decoration panels. However, there are obvious differences among different configuration models. The administrative version is equipped with a 15.6-inch adaptive rotary screen, while the central control screen of other models is 12.8 inches. At the same time, the whole department will be equipped with DiLink 4.0 (4G) intelligent network connection system, the new HMI design is also more user-friendly.

In terms of power, the new Song MAX DM-i will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system composed of a 1.5L engine and a motor, with a maximum engine power of 81kw and a peak torque of 135N ·m, and two pure electric life versions of 51km/105km will be launched respectively, of which the pure electric version with 51 km mileage has 4.4L/100km, while the pure electric version with 105km mileage is 4.5L/100km.

According to the data, Song MAX is a new MPV model launched by BYD in 2017, offering a layout of 6 seats / 7 seats, and the current price is 9.48-124800 yuan. Song MAX derives Song MAX EV and Song MAX DM models on the basis of fuel cars. Song MAX DM currently sells 2019 models at a price of 14.99-196900 yuan, offering pure electric mileage of 51km and 81km for consumers to choose from. From the configuration point of view, the configuration of Song MAX DM-i is better than that of Song MAX DM, such as upgrade roof, longer pure electric mileage and better fuel consumption performance. From the price point of view, the starting price of 146800 yuan is not much different from the current models, but high-end models will have obvious advantages.

Compared with the car and SUV market, BYD's performance in the MPV market is relatively mediocre. Data show that BYD Song MAX sold 11573 vehicles in 2021, BYD D1 10318 and Song MAX DM 734. With the launch of the DM-i model, it may be able to drive the growth of the MPV market, but for BYD, the significance of Song MAX DM-i 's launch is to improve the product structure. Auto industry concern learned from BYD's official website that models equipped with DM-i plug-in hybrid system include Qin PLUS DM-i, 2022 Song Pro DM-i, Song PLUS DM-i, Tang DM-i, and Han DM-i will be launched this year. At present, only Yuan in the BYD dynasty series has no layout of the DM-i model, but it is expected to be not far away.
