Yesterday, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xiao Yaqing presided over the annual working meeting of the inter-ministerial joint meeting on energy conservation and new energy vehicle industry development. During the meeting, Xiao Yaqing said that he would draw up a road map for the green development of the automobile industry, study and clarify policies such as the renewal of tax concessions for new energy vehicles as soon as possible, complete the equipment and good points management requirements, and stabilize market expectations. This statement of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will mean that when the current subsidy policy for new energy vehicles expires at the end of this year, new subsidy policies will be introduced to continue to promote the development of new energy vehicles.

The extension of the current subsidy time for new energy vehicles is based on the "Circular on improving the Financial subsidy Policy for the Promotion and Application of New Energy vehicles" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the Ministry of Finance in 2020, according to the previous subsidy policy framework, gradually slow down the intensity and pace of subsidy decline, and the subsidy standards from 2020 to 2022 fell by 10%, 20% and 30% respectively on the basis of the previous year. The subsidy standard for new energy vehicles in 2022 will decline by 30% on the basis of 2021, and the current new energy subsidies will be completely stopped after December 31, 2022.

According to the subsidy program of 30% decline this year, starting from January 1, 2022, the subsidy for pure electric vehicles with a range of 300,400km will be 9100 yuan, 3900 yuan less than that in 2021, and 12600 yuan for pure electric vehicles greater than or equal to 400km. 5400 yuan less than in 2021; in addition, the subsidy for plug-in hybrid models is 4800 yuan, 2000 yuan less than before. With the reduction of subsidies, this expenditure will return to car prices, and new energy car manufacturers will also focus on adjusting product prices at this point in time.

Tesla announced on December 31 that the rear-wheel drive versions of Model 3 and Model Y sold for 265700 yuan and 301800 yuan respectively, up 10, 000 yuan and 21000 yuan, respectively. Tesla China also made it clear that the price increase was related to the decline in subsidies for new energy vehicles. The price of the U part of Nezha car will be increased by 3000-5000 yuan, and the part of Nezha V will be increased by 2000 yuan; the overall prices of two pure electric models, FAW-Volkswagen ID.4 CROZZ and ID.6 CROZZ, will increase by 5400 yuan; the price of GAC Ean LX will increase by 4000 yuan, and the new AION S Plus will increase by more than 7000 yuan compared with the 2021 model.

The price of Xiaopeng car has also gone up. The subsidized price of Xiaopeng P7 is 224200-409900 yuan, up 4300-5900 yuan; the subsidized price of P5 is 162700-229300 yuan, up 4800-5400 yuan; and the subsidized price of G3i is 154600-193,200 yuan, up 4800-5400 yuan.

According to market analysis, sales of 4.8 million new energy passenger vehicles were originally expected to be sold in 2022, but now they should be adjusted to more than 5.5 million, and the penetration rate of new energy passenger vehicles is about 25%. The number of new energy vehicles is expected to exceed 6 million, and the penetration rate of new energy vehicles is about 22%.
