C-NCAP is the earliest collision testing organization established in China, established in 1999 and operated independently for 20 years. It mainly tests all-round safety performance of vehicles, including occupant protection, pedestrian protection, active safety, etc., so as to give consumers more systematic and objective vehicle safety information and promote automobile enterprises to continuously improve vehicle safety performance. Because it has been established for a long time, its position in the domestic market has also been consolidated, but in recent years, almost all of the models announced by C-NCAP have won a five-star rating, mainly due to its relatively low collision standards and lack of rigor to the vehicle structure test. Therefore, in the eyes of many consumers, C-NCAP 's "focus" is not much, and its published results are also controversial, jokingly known as the "five-star wholesale department."

It is worth mentioning that C-NCAP has previously announced that it will update collision standards and rules to further promote the content of collision assessment procedures to be more collaborative, efficient, and better serve the automobile industry and consumers, but the formal implementation of the "C-NCAP Management rules (2021 version)" will not begin until January 1, 2022, which means that all vehicles involved in the collision this year will adopt the new rules. It remains to be tested whether the controversy over C-NCAP 's crash testing can be changed.

The main test items of C-NCAP include: 100% overlapping rigid wall collision, 40% overlapping deformable wall collision, side collision, whipping test, pedestrian protection, active safety and so on. The following are the results of some models:
