Tesla not only sells more, but also earns more. Early this morning, Tesla officially announced his financial results for 2021. Data show that Tesla's total revenue in fiscal year 2021 was $53.823 billion (about 340.193 billion yuan), an increase of 71 percent over the same period last year, of which total revenue in the fourth quarter of 2021 was $17.719 billion (about 111.995 billion yuan), an increase of 65 percent over the same period last year. In fiscal year 2021, net profit was $5.519 billion (about 34.88 billion yuan), an increase of 665 percent over the same period last year, including a net profit of $2.321 billion (about 14.67 billion yuan) in the fourth quarter of 2021, an increase of 760 percent. In other words, this is Tesla's second year of profitability, and it is also the most profitable year since Tesla was founded.

Tesla's excellent financial data in 2021 is largely due to the substantial increase in its delivery volume, which is inseparable from the contribution of the Chinese market. According to the financial report, Tesla delivered a total of 936000 new cars worldwide in 2021, an increase of 87 percent over the same period last year, of which 484000 were delivered by Tesla Shanghai Super Factory, an increase of 235 percent over the same period last year, accounting for 51.7 percent of Tesla's total global delivery. it is Tesla's first single market in the world. In addition, Tesla has also become the fastest-growing car brand in the United States. Tesla delivered a total of 313000 new cars in the United States in 2021, which not only surpassed luxury brands such as Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Audi. It is only one step away from the No. 1 BMW.

Tesla relies on the Shanghai factory to deliver 484000 new cars throughout the year, of which 321000 are retail in China, and the remaining 163000 are mainly exported to Japan, Europe and other countries. In the Chinese market, there are 169853 Model Y retail vehicles and 150890 Model 3 retail vehicles in 2021, which is far less than Hongguang MINIEV, but outperforms other new energy models. Tesla's performance is still very strong. It is worth mentioning that Model Y was launched by New Year's Day in 2021, but its sales during the year surpassed that of Model 3, on the one hand, because the Model 3 made in Shanghai began to supply overseas markets, and on the other hand, SUV was more popular with consumers than cars. In terms of car sales, Tesla China is second only to BYD Motor and SAIC GM Wuling, which sold 584000 and 431000 new energy vehicles in 2021, respectively.

How does Tesla make money? As we all know, Tesla uses a direct sales model, generally speaking, the price can more directly reflect the impact of the production end on the sales end, consumers can more directly and transparently understand the price changes of the model. In other words, Tesla, who adopts the direct operation mode, when there is a shortage of chips and a rise in the price of raw materials for spare parts, the increase in production costs means that Tesla will brew a price increase. For Tesla, the more cars he sells, the more money he makes, but it is not the most profitable one.

In the past, when Tesla's profitability was insufficient, he basically whitewashed his financial statements by selling carbon credits. For example, in the first quarter of 2021, Tesla achieved a revenue of US $10.39 billion and a net profit of US $438 million, but earned US $518 million by selling carbon credits. If you deduct the carbon points income, Tesla is actually still losing money. Of course, with the increase of Tesla's sales, its net profit is also increasing. Tesla made a net profit of US $1.142 billion in the second quarter of 2021, of which the carbon credits income was US $3.54, the net profit of the third quarter of 2021 was US $1.618 billion, and the carbon credits income was US $279 million. In addition, due to the advent of the intelligent era, the logic of car sales by automakers has changed, and Tesla, as a technology company positioned as both soft and hard, makes money not only by selling cars, but more importantly by software services. Today, Tesla raised the price of FSD fully autopilot service again, from $10, 000 to $12000. In retrospect, the price of Tesla's FSD rose to $6000 from $5000 in May 2019, then to $7000 on August 16, then to $8000 on July 1, 2020, and to $10000 in October of the same year. It is predicted that with the deepening of FSD functions, its price may continue to rise. In other words, the more cars Tesla sells, the more income he earns from FSD.

Let's talk about Tesla's development plan for the coming year. In terms of product planning, Tesla CEO Musk said on a conference call, "We will not launch new models this year. We are not promoting the development of a $25000 electric car (that is, the previously rumored Model Q). We are preparing to launch the CYBERTRUCK, the electric truck Semi and the ROADSTER sports car next year." Mr Musk says new car deliveries are expected to grow by 50 per cent in 2022, which can be achieved by Fremont in the US and the Shanghai superfactory alone. According to this data, Tesla's sales target this year will be 1.5 million vehicles. However, Tesla also said, "as the supply chain has become a major limiting factor, our factories have been below production capacity for several consecutive quarters, and this situation is likely to continue in 2022."

Earlier, according to media reports, Tesla's brand-new model, Model Q, will be officially launched in 2023. The price is $24990. Judging from the picture, the new car is a hatchback, somewhat similar to the imported BMW 1-Series. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with BYD blade batteries. However, for now, the news has been denied by Musk, who denied previous rumors at the earnings meeting, saying that Tesla is not promoting the development of a $25000 electric car, and that the focus of research and development now is when it can achieve real self-driving, but Musk also said that at some point in the future, low-cost Tesla cars will be launched. In other words, the launch of the low-cost Model model is only a matter of time, but it also means that there won't be much time left for other new energy manufacturers.

In addition, photos of Tesla Cybertruck's latest production car have been exposed. Judging from the picture, Tesla Cybertruck is more rounded than the previously released and unveiled model, equipped with large-size wipers and external rearview mirrors. In addition, the door uses an invisible handle. Musk announced on Twitter that he has personally test-driven the latest Cybertruck prototype car at the Texas Super Factory, and the experience is great! It is understood that the Cybertruck is a new model released by Tesla at the end of October 2019. By that time, Tesla had already opened a reservation in the North American market, and Tesla expected to start delivery at the end of 2021, but so far there is no specific time for launch.
