On January 29th, Xilai officially announced that the first production line verification samples of its fifth model, ET5, were taken off the line at the Hefei plant on January 23rd, and delivery of the car was scheduled to begin in September this year.

Xilai Automobile said: "this is an important part of the engineering verification vehicle construction (Validation Build) stage." At this stage, ET5 has started a full range of testing and verification work, which will mainly complete three major tasks: optimizing the production line process, verifying the functional integrity of the vehicle, and verifying the properties and performance of the vehicle.

It is understood that the ET5 is the second car under Lulai (the first car is the ET7), which was officially launched at the NIO Day meeting on December 19 last year. ET5 will launch two versions of 75kWh and 100kWh, with a price of 328000 yuan and 386000 yuan respectively before the subsidy, which is currently the lowest of the four models of Yulai, and belongs to the entry-level model of NIO.

In terms of appearance, compared with NIO's first car ET7, ET5 can be said to be the "youth version" of ET7. In the overall design, ET5 appears to be more athletic and younger. Specifically, ET5 adopts the X-Bar front face of the NIO family, the front face adopts a closed panel with a through diversion port, the LED daytime driving lights and headlights adopt a separate design, and the daytime driving lights are slender and intermittent. The side line of the car body adopts the sedan car-style sliding back shape, which looks more athletic, while the rear part uses the LED lamp group and the current popular through-through design, and the whole system is equipped with frameless electric suction door and hidden door handle. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of ET5 are 4790/1960/1499mm, and the wheelbase is 2888mm. On the whole, ET5 will be slightly larger than the mainstream compact car in the market, one lap larger than Tesla Model 3, but slightly smaller than BYD Han. In terms of body color, ET5 offers nine body colors, of which clearance powder and Yunchu yellow are the exclusive colors of ET5, and the annual color Aerospace Blue will also be available on ET5.

Interior decoration, ET5 design style is relatively simple, a total of six interior colors to choose from. The car is equipped with a 12.8-inch central touch screen and liquid crystal dashboard, the entire dashboard and central control screen are independently suspended design.

In terms of power, according to Ulai, dual motors are the label of high-end intelligent electric vehicles, so ET5 standard dual-motor intelligent four-wheel drive system, the maximum power 360kW, zero acceleration only 4.3 seconds, the longest mileage can reach 1000 km (ET5's mileage is 550km, 700km, 1000km three).

According to the previous statistics concerned by the automobile industry, there are currently five models under the banner of Lulai Motor, including ES6, ES8, EC6, ET7 and ET5. Among them, the NIO ES8, which was delivered in June 2018, is the first model launched by NIO, positioning a luxurious medium and large SUV, with a price of 45.67-611400 yuan. The ES6 will be delivered in June 2019 and will be positioned as a medium-sized pure electric SUV with a price of 34.67-513400 yuan. The Xilai EC6 will be delivered in September 2020 with a positioning sedan SUV at a price of 35.67-513400 yuan.

In terms of sales volume, the cumulative delivery volume of Xilai cars from January to December 2021 was 91429. Among them, the cumulative sales of ES6, EC6 and ES8 in 2021 were 41474, 29905 and 20050 respectively.

In terms of product planning, in addition to the above-mentioned ET5 models that began delivery in September, this year, Xilai will also launch ET7 models and a hospitality announcement model. The ET7 model, as the first mass-produced sedan under Xilai, has officially opened the lock order on January 20 this year and will open the first batch of delivery on March 28th. It is understood that the car will offer three configuration options at a price range of 44.8-526000 yuan.

As the entry-level model of NIO, the ET5 model of the second car of NIO is expected to complement with the product system of NIO after its launch, and to seize more market share for NIO. In the market competition, ET5 will mark Tesla Model 3, Xiaopeng P7 and ZEEKR 001 and other models.

However, throughout the 300000 yuan price range, Tesla Model 3, Xiaopeng P7, ZEEKR 001, BYD Han may all be considered by consumers, and ET5, as a latecomer, will also face a lot of pressure after listing.
