AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)01/31 Report--
Recently, the automotive industry learned from Tesla's Chinese website that Tesla decided to take the initiative to recall some Model3 models to complete the inspection and maintenance of the trunk wiring harness.
According to information disclosed on the website, Tesla China will recall some domestic Model 3 with production dates from October 14, 2019 to December 27, 2020, and some imported Model 3 from October 4, 2018 to November 20, 2019.
In fact, the recall was filed with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration at the end of last year. Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. and Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan and decided to recall domestic and imported Model 3 from now on, according to the latest release by the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration. Among them, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd. recalled some imported Model 3 electric vehicles from October 4, 2018 to November 20, 2019, a total of 35836 vehicles. Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recalled a total of 144208 domestic Model 3 electric vehicles manufactured between October 14, 2019 and December 27, 2020.
The trunk cover of the vehicle in the recall area may cause excessive wear and tear after being repeatedly opened and closed for a long time. If the wear causes the core separation of the coaxial cable, it may cause the reversing image not to work properly, thus affecting the driver's field of vision when reversing. In extreme cases, it will increase the collision risk when reversing, and there is a safety hidden danger.
In view of the above defects, Tesla Automobile (Beijing) Co., Ltd., Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will inspect the trunk wiring harness for vehicles within the scope of the recall free of charge. If the degree of wear is within the allowable range of coaxial cable design, a protective cover will be installed for the trunk harness to ensure that the harness has sufficient bending radius when the trunk is closed to prevent further wear; if the wear exceeds the allowable range of coaxial cable design, a new harness will be replaced for the vehicle and a protective cover will be installed to eliminate safety risks.
It is understood that earlier, Tesla submitted to the US Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA) documents showing that a total of 356309 Model3 vehicles worldwide will be recalled.
With the popularity of new energy vehicles, Tesla has repeatedly created "miracles" in the domestic market. However, while sales hit a new high, Tesla's product problems also reached a certain height. According to previous reports from the automotive industry, Tesla delivered a total of 936000 new cars worldwide in 2021, an increase of 87% over the same period last year, of which Tesla Shanghai Super Factory delivered 484000 vehicles, an increase of 235% over the same period last year, accounting for 51.7% of Tesla's total global delivery. it is Tesla's first single market in the world. In terms of specific models, Tesla Model 3 delivered 150890 new cars in the Chinese market, while Tesla Model Y delivered 169853 new cars. According to information disclosed by Tesla in China, a total of 180071 imported and domestic Model 3s were affected this time, and the number of this recall also exceeded the number of Model 3 delivered in the domestic market in 2021, and also far exceeded the number of recalls by Tesla in the Chinese market in 2020. According to the recall list, the number of recalls in the domestic market of Tesla in 2021 is second only to Mercedes-Benz, Wuling and Toyota, and far higher than luxury brands such as BMW and Audi.
