Recently, Lexus officially released more official pictures of its new all-electric car RZ 450e, which is expected to make its official debut this spring.

It is understood that the new car, like Toyota bZ4x and Subaru Solterra, is based on the e-TNGA platform, and the new car can be simply understood as Toyota bZ4X deluxe product, focusing on the pure electric SUV market. Officially, the new car will provide a whole new driving experience and redefine Lexus's new standards for electric vehicles that combine comfort and dynamic performance at this level.

In terms of appearance, the front face shape of the new Lexus pure electric car RZ has been exposed, the overall shape of the new car still uses the usual style of Lexus, the front face retains the classic spindle style of Lexus, but the intake grille becomes a flat shape, the black decorative panels on both sides also divide the front face into three areas, and the shape of the headlight group is equally eye-catching, and the shape of the whole car is very avant-garde.

Judging from the newly released official picture, the side and rear parts of the new car are also relatively clear. The new car redesigns a more dynamic and fluent waistline, reduces the size surrounded by plastic around the front and rear wheel arches, adopts a hidden B, C and D column design, and the C column part also has a new design, such as a significant downward tilt of the C column. at the same time, the side of the new car also creates a more smooth suspended roof. The rear part of the new car adopts the design of through-through LED lamp group, which makes the rear part look quite layered. The interior and power parameters of the new car have not been officially released so far, but given the car's shared platform with Toyota bZ4X, the new car is expected to use a battery and motor drive system similar to Toyota's bZ4X. For reference, Toyota's bZ4X front-wheel drive model has nearly 500km mileage in WLTC, supports 150kW power in DC fast charging mode, and can fill up to 80 per cent in 30 minutes.

In terms of market competition, the new car is expected to compete with Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback and Genesis GV60 after its launch.

Public data show that Lexus delivered a total of 760012 new cars in 2021, an increase of 6 per cent from 2020. Of these, North America, the brand's largest market, sold about 332000 vehicles, while China ranked second with about 227000. In addition, in the field of electric vehicles, Lexus delivered about 260000 vehicles, a record 10 per cent more than last year.

In fact, at the end of last year, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda announced that he would invest $35 billion in electric vehicle research by 2030 and launch 30 electric vehicles before that. At that time, the Lexus brand will also be fully transformed into an all-electric brand.

Specifically, Toyota is expected to launch 15 bZ models by 2025, including nine new models, and 30 pure electric models by 2030, of which luxury brand Lexus will be 100% electric in Europe, North America and China, and the goal will be expanded globally by 2035. Prior to this, Ueda, chairman and general manager of Toyota Motor China, also said that Toyota bZ pure electric exclusive series models have been planned for seven models, five of which will be introduced into the Chinese market in the future. It is expected that Toyota and Lexus will have 10 EV models in China by 2025, while Lexus RZ will achieve zero acceleration in 2 seconds and exceed 700km in range, but so far the interior and detailed power parameters of Lexus's new pure electric vehicle RZ have yet to be further released.
