When it comes to Dongfeng Nissan's most closely watched move in 2021, the replacement of a new generation of Qijun with a three-cylinder engine has undoubtedly triggered a heated discussion. Although Nissan has made a huge investment in the three-cylinder engine, judging from the current market performance, it is still difficult to meet expectations, and the transfer of the old Qijun with a four-cylinder engine to Zhengzhou Nissan illustrates this point, that is, the three-cylinder engine is not recognized by the Chinese market. For other Nissan products, what is more worried is whether the upcoming generation of Nissan Xiaoke will also be replaced with a three-cylinder engine. After all, Qijun's sales remain in the doldrums after switching to a four-cylinder engine, and Xiaoke has become the support of the Dongfeng Nissan SUV camp. If it is also replaced with a three-cylinder engine, then the blow to the Nissan brand will be huge. However, the latest news is that the upcoming generation of Xiaoke will continue to carry the engine.

As early as February 18, 2021, Nissan officially launched a new generation of Xiaoke model, which is similar to Xinqi Jun in overall shape, which is also due to the fact that Xinxiaoke is based on the CMF-C/D platform like Xinqi Jun. In terms of appearance, the new Nissan Xiaoke uses the latest "V-Motion" family design language, and the iconic trapezoidal front grille is still flanked by C-shaped split headlights. On the side of the body, the new Nissan Xiaoke still maintains the standard SUV style. the sunken roof and sloping rear windows make the new car look more stylish.

In terms of interior decoration, the new Xiaoke adopts an overall design style similar to that of the new Qijun, and the addition of liquid crystal instruments and suspended central control screens enhances the sense of science and technology. In addition, the new car will set off a more textured interior with new materials, including leather with stitching and a center console similar to wood grain. In terms of configuration, the new Xiaoke will provide a 12.3inch full LCD dashboard, ProPilot system, 9-inch central control screen, 10-speaker BOSE sound, NissanConnect smartphone apps and so on.

In terms of power, the new Xiaoke will be equipped with a micro-hybrid system consisting of 1.3T engine and 12V motor, and will provide two different adjustments, maximum power of 140hp and 157hp, transmission will match manual or CVT continuously variable transmission, and high-end models will provide four-wheel drive system.

Although the new generation of Xiaoke has been released for a year, the domestic version has not yet been released and will be introduced by Dongfeng Nissan into domestic listing in the future. According to a tender notice for Dongfeng Nissan, Dongfeng Nissan will introduce a 1.3T engine. Judging from the contents of the announcement, Hubei Dongfeng Nissan Automobile Co., Ltd. and Dongfeng Nissan passenger car Company have completed the tender for the cast cylinder block of "HR13DDT", a 1.3T four-cylinder engine jointly developed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance and Daimler Group, with a maximum horsepower of 153Ps (113kW) and a peak torque of 270N ·m.

In the future, the new generation of Nissan Xiaoke will use this 1.3T engine. In 2019, Dongfeng Nissan Xiaoke has carried out medium-term changes in China, while the overseas version of Xiaoke has been released in 2021 and is expected to be released this year, becoming the first Dongfeng Nissan model with 1.3T engine in China.

Nissan's main competitors are Volkswagen Tango, Honda XR-V and colorful Intelligence, all of which have launched 1.3T small turbochargers, which will greatly increase their competitiveness if they are equipped with 1.3T engines. Sales data show that Dongfeng Nissan (including Nissan / Qichen) sold 1134889 units in 2021, down 6.4 per cent from a year earlier, of which Xiaoke sold 161152 vehicles, up 2.2 per cent from the same period last year.
