AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/06 Report--
According to media reports, Jaguar is developing a new pure electric platform for its future electric vehicle production. It is understood that the new pure electric platform, named "Panthera", is expected to support the production of Jaguar electric models after 2025.
Jaguar had expected to purchase the electric vehicle platform from a third party, but Thierry Polore, chief executive of Jaguar Land Rover, confirmed in a conference call with investors that the company would develop a pure electric vehicle platform separately. It is not clear why Jaguar decided to develop its own development, but Jaguar Land Rover's chief financial officer has previously revealed that the platform will operate independently and build its own vehicles. Jaguar believes that in order to stand out in the market, new models need independent designs, including unique body proportions, which may not be possible for third-party platforms, so people in the industry speculate that Jaguar's development of a new pure electric platform may have something to do with it.
In fact, as Britain's largest carmaker, Jaguar confirmed as early as the end of 2021 that diesel locomotives would be electrified into an electric car brand by 2025, and all its new cars would be pure electric vehicles by 2030. The simple understanding is that the fuel models of the Jaguar brand will be eliminated and replaced by electric vehicles one after another.
On January 31, the UK's Export Finance Department also announced that Jaguar Land Rover would receive a loan of 500m pounds ($670 million) for the production of electric cars. The Department of Export Finance said the five-year loan would help promote the development and export of Jaguar Land Rover's battery-powered cars as part of the UK's export development guarantee scheme.
In terms of products, according to the previous plan, the Jaguar XJ replacement model in the Jaguar brand will be electrified, and a new entry-level pure electric will be developed to replace Jaguar Xe. By 2023, Jaguar XE and XF models will also be replaced by new pure electric, and E-PACE and F-PACE fuel pumps will be launched on the historical stage.
According to data, Jaguar currently sells two models, Jaguar XEL and Jaguar XFL, with cumulative sales of 12100 and 7249 respectively in 2021. SUV has no data on F-PACE sales, while E-PACE has only 695 vehicles in the first quarter of 2021.
In the field of pure electric models, the I-Pace is currently the only pure electric model of the Jaguar brand, and the new car will continue to be produced, but the Jaguar brand has not released exact news about the specific models from the "Panthera" platform, but according to foreign media speculation, the first model of the platform may be a brand-new SUV model, of course, whether this is the final case still needs further confirmation from the Jaguar brand.
It is understood that Jaguar brand's new pure electric model will compete with brands such as Aston Martin, Bentley and Porsche. Jaguar Land Rover's chief executive had previously said: "SUV will be exclusive to Land Rover, while Jaguar will take a completely different path to high-end electrification and reposition the Jaguar brand." It is worth noting that with the gradual promotion of new energy vehicles, the future electrification has become the development trend of the automobile industry. Yesterday, the automobile industry noticed that another car company had joined the ranks of discontinued internal combustion cars. British luxury supercar brand Aston Martin announced that only electric or hybrid vehicles will be sold from 2026, when internal combustion engine products will be phased out. And Maserati Alfieri traditional luxury brand and Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Mercedes-Benz and other car companies have made faster changes to the layout of the new energy market.
