AutoBeta(AutoBeta.net)02/08 Report--
According to Caijing Automotive, Dongfeng Honda has taken over the second plant of DPCA in Wuhan Economic and technological Development Zone, which has been transformed into a new factory specializing in pure electric cars. In addition, relevant reports quoted a source close to DPCA as saying: "at present, the production equipment in the DPCA II plant has been emptied, Dongfeng Honda will use the factory behind, and DPCA only retains the fountain and office building in front of the factory."
In response to the above news, according to Caijing Automotive, DPCA said: "in order to support DPCA, the government bought back the Shenlong II plant, and then this part of the repurchased factory and land is used to support the development of other local enterprises. In fact, it has been given to Dongfeng Honda, which is owned by Dongfeng, to support them to further develop new energy. " Dongfeng Honda also confirmed the news.
It is understood that the annual planned production capacity of the second plant of DPCA is about 150000 vehicles. Although DPCA has achieved rapid growth in 2021, the second plant of DMC has been in a state of "shelving". The production base was previously collected and stored by the Wuhan Economic Development District government, and the opportunity was chosen to complete the land regulation to meet the conditions for the listing and sale of commercial land. For Dongfeng Honda, the existing capacity can not meet the needs of its electrified transformation, to take over the second plant of DPCA or one of the better ways to achieve electrified transformation.
In fact, the Dragon II plant is the new energy plant that Dongfeng Honda announced to be located in the Wuhan Economic Development Zone. On January 5 this year, Dongfeng Honda signed an investment agreement with Wuhan Economic Development Zone to build a new factory specializing in the production of electric vehicles. According to the plan, the renovated "Dragon II Plant" may become Honda's first new energy benchmark factory in the world, providing strong support for Dongfeng Honda's transformation to electrification. Relevant data show that the total investment of the project is about 10 billion yuan, the factory covers an area of 630000 square meters, and the planned annual production capacity is 256000 vehicles. It is planned to be officially put into production in 2024, with an initial base annual production capacity of 120000 vehicles.
However, the news about the transfer of the Shenlong No.2 factory to Dongfeng Honda actually came out as early as October 2017. at that time, the Shenlong No.1 plant was about to undergo a large-scale upgrade, including the introduction of the production line of models produced by the second factory. Then, in August 2019, it was also reported that Dongfeng Group and the then PSA Group had reached a consensus to close the Wuhan No.1 plant and sell the second plant. The potential next companies are Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Honda, two other joint ventures of Dongfeng Group. After that, DPCA began to promote the capacity layout adjustment plan codenamed F99, and the production capacity of Wuhan No. 1 Plant was transferred to No. 3 Plant. The second plant has been put on hold.
At present, there are four production bases in China, of which the first factory, the second factory and the third factory are located in Wuhan, Hubei, and the other four factories are located in Chengdu, Sichuan. The four factories have a planned annual production capacity of 300000 vehicles, 150000 vehicles, 300000 vehicles and 360000 vehicles respectively, with a total production capacity of more than 1 million vehicles. The fourth factory was officially completed and put into use in September 2016 and has a holiday from the beginning of 2017. The second factory is mainly responsible for producing C5, C6, 508 and other medium-and high-end models.
According to public data, both Dongfeng Honda and Shenlong Motor are brands of Dongfeng Company. Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co., Ltd. is a vehicle production and operation enterprise jointly established by Dongfeng Automobile Group Co., Ltd. and Honda Technology Research Industrial Co., Ltd., 50% each. The company was established on July 16, 2003. At present, there are three production plants, all located in Wuhan, Hubei Province. DPCA has been upgraded from a joint venture between China Dongfeng Motor Company and France's Citroen to a joint venture with France's PSA Peugeot Citroen, which was established on October 25th.
In terms of sales volume, the wholesale sales of DPCA in 2021 was 100567, up 100.07% from 50267 in 2020 compared with the same period last year. Although DPCA has achieved rapid growth, the utilization rate of its existing capacity is only about 10%. Part of the increase in DPCA sales is due to the excellent performance of Versailles C5X models. Among them, only four months after the launch of Dongfeng Citroen Versailles C5X model (on September 23, 2021), it has become the main force of DPCA sales, all produced by the fourth Citroen Automobile Factory in Chengdu, Sichuan. According to the data, the Dongfeng Citroen Versaillon C5X has successfully delivered more than 12000 vehicles in just one quarter since its launch in September last year, including 513 in September and 1530 in October. November and December delivered more than 5000 vehicles in a row, 5037 in November and 5060 in December.
In 2021, Dongfeng Honda's annual sales volume was 761879 vehicles, down 10.40% from the same period last year. In terms of putting into production, Dongfeng Honda put into production three factories in 2004, 2012 and 2019, with an annual production capacity of 768000 vehicles. In terms of production, it was 791000 in 2019 and 840000 in 2020. In terms of model planning, in October last year, Honda launched a new pure electric car brand EVV N and its electrification strategy. According to reports, the first special version of e:NS1, the first model of Dongfeng Honda EVR N brand, is expected to go on sale this spring. Over the next five years, Dongfeng Honda will launch three more eRU N brand models, while Dongfeng Honda will build a new factory for pure electric vehicles in China and start production in 2024.
For Dongfeng Honda, which has insufficient production capacity, if Dongfeng Honda can take over the Shenlong II plant, it may greatly increase its vehicle capacity.
