On February 20, FAW Pentium's brand-new compact SUV-Pentium B70S officially opened pre-sale. Seven versions of the new car were launched. The official pre-sale price was 11.09- 143,900 yuan. It is expected that the new car will be launched at the end of the first quarter of this year.

As a brand-new compact SUV owned by FAW Pentium, the new car was officially released at last year's Guangzhou Auto Show. In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the design language of "sexy curved surface of light and shadow philosophy". The front face part uses large size trapezoidal grille with unique headlight group, which is inclined to sports style as a whole. It is worth mentioning that although the tear-eye headlight group of the new car is the characteristic of Pentium family, it is the same model as "Cadillac" by many netizens.

On the side of the car body, the new car incorporates elements of coupe SUV, highlighting SUV elements while also having a sense of low lying and sportiness, which is also criticized by netizens as similar to Mazda CX-4.

In terms of power, the new car has two versions of 1.5T and 2.0T, among which the maximum power of 1.5T engine is 169 hp, the maximum power of 2.0T engine is 224 hp, and the gearbox is matched with 6-speed manual, 7-speed wet dual clutch and Aixin 6-speed manual self-contained gearbox (used in 2.0T models).

The annual sales target of FAW Pentium in 2020 is 200,000 vehicles. On November 28 of the same year, the third generation Pentium B70 was officially launched, with a new car price of 999 - 139,900 yuan. This model was highly anticipated by FAW Pentium. Although the third generation Pentium B70 was innovated in appearance and interior decoration, consumers did not buy it. The third generation Pentium B70 still did not have new growth for FAW Pentium sales. Relevant data showed that due to sudden epidemic situation and product reasons, In 2020, the accumulated sales volume of FAW Pentium is only 80,100 vehicles, which is far from the annual sales target. On May 18,2021, FAW Pentium released a brand-new brand strategy to create a brand-new Pentium brand logo, but this action also failed to bring improvement to its sales volume. In 2021, the cumulative sales volume of FAW Pentium directly dropped to 57773 vehicles, among which the cumulative sales volume of Pentium B70 was 20087 vehicles, with an average monthly sales volume of less than 2000 vehicles.

At present, FAW Pentium products include Pentium B70, Pentium T77, Pentium T55, Pentium T33, Pentium T99, Pentium T99 and Pentium B70S. According to the sales volume in January this year, the overall sales performance of FAW Pentium products is average.

In January this year, FAW Pentium accumulated sales of only 5466 vehicles, down 29.6% year-on-year. For this year's annual sales target, according to FAW Group's sales target for 2022, FAW Pentium's sales target for this year is 100,000 vehicles, down by half compared with the annual sales target of 200,000 vehicles in 2020. According to the current sales volume of FAW Pentium products, FAW Pentium wants to achieve the goal of 100,000 vehicles this year, which means that it needs to launch more competitive products. Whether the listing of Pentium B70S can inject new vitality into FAW Pentium, we still have to wait and see.
