On February 22nd, SAIC-Volkswagen Xinwei officially opened the pre-sale, but did not announce the specific pre-sale price. As a reference, Cash Weiran launched a total of four models with a price of 28.68-399800 yuan. It is understood that the new Weiran will be officially unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show and is expected to be officially listed in the first quarter.

As a modified model, the new Weiran is consistent with the current model in appearance design, and the overall change is not great. The front face still adopts the latest family design of the Volkswagen brand, and six horizontal chrome-plated bars outline the huge intake grille, which is connected with the LED headlights on both sides to form a unified penetrating collocation, and the style is quite similar to that of Volkswagen CC. On the side of the body, the transition between the roof and the rear window is relatively smooth, and the huge body uses double sliding doors. From the rear point of view, the new car adopts a relatively simple design style, flattened LOGO and the English alphabet, and a slender chrome strip that runs through the lights and logo, further enhancing the visual width of the new car. In terms of size, the new Weiran length, width and height are 5346/1976/1781mm and the wheelbase is 3180mm.

As a modified model, the overall design style of the current model is basically followed, but the popular suspended large-size central control screen is replaced, and the independent touch air-conditioning panel is cancelled. In order to increase the storage space in the front row, the new car adopts a connected design between the center console and the central armbox, which can form a hollowed-out storage space and be equipped with a new family-based small electronic shift lever.

In terms of power, the new Varan is equipped with 2.0T engines and offers two versions of low power (330TSI) and high power (380TSI) according to different configurations, with a maximum power of 186hp (137kW) and 220hp (162kW), with a peak torque of 320Nm and 350Nm respectively. In terms of transmission, the 7-speed DSG double clutch gearbox matches the engine.

It is understood that Weiran is a medium and large MPV under SAIC-Volkswagen, which officially went on sale on May 28th, 2020, with a price of 28.68-399800 yuan. However, sales after the launch of Weiran are not very optimistic, with cumulative sales of 10945 vehicles in 2021, with an average monthly sales of less than 1,000 vehicles.

On February 19th, SAIC-Volkswagen announced that the Volkswagen brand sold 130001 vehicles in January, ranking first in a single domestic brand. Among them, car camp Longyi retail 45288, Santana retail 12343, Passat retail 11934, Ling du retail 9139, SUV camp Tuyue retail 18927, Tuguan L retail 15443. Compared with cars and SUV, SAIC-Volkswagen also has a layout in the MPV market, but its market share is relatively low, including 443 Weiran retail vehicles and 313 Tuan L retail vehicles.

From a market point of view, Viagra's competitors include Buick GL8, Toyota Sena, Kia Jiahua, Honda Odyssey / Ericsson and so on. All of these models are located in medium and large MPV, but the size of Viagra is the largest of all models. In terms of sales, the Buick GL8 is currently the highest-selling model, with monthly sales of more than 10,000, with 16057 in January and 4852 in the Odyssey, while Jiahua and Sena are both the latest MPV, with 4329 in January and 383 in Jiahua.

With the listing of New Weiran, the change in the layout of its interior may bring about an increase in sales, but in all respects, there is not much room for growth. It is understood that, in addition to prestige, SAIC Volkswagen will be listed on the new Lingdu L and the new Lang Yi.
