Ocean-X, BYD's new concept car, was officially unveiled at the launch of BYD's e-platform 3.0 on Sept. 8 last year, and it is BYD Seal, the first medium-sized sedan in BYD's ocean series. If the above news is true, combined with the road test photos of BYD Seal released this month and the new design manuscript, the new car is expected to be unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show, which opens in April, and the price range is expected to be around 22-280000.

From the exposure of the design manuscript, the new car is different from the previous dragon face design language of the BYD dynasty series, the new car adopts a new ocean aesthetic design style, and the appearance highly restores the Ocean-X concept model unveiled last year. For example, the two raised lines on the new car bonnet are basically the original Ocean-X concept model, and the front of the new car in the picture also uses the LOGO of the BYD letter logo. The overall appearance of the new car looks younger and sportier. Specifically, the front of the new car is relatively low, the front part of the car adopts the common closed grille design of pure electric models, and the shape of the headlamp group treated by fumigation is used on both sides, and the three-stage design style is used in the lower enclosure. the two sides are equipped with large vents, and the trapezoidal air inlet is designed in the middle, and the overall sense of hierarchy is clear. In the side part of the body, the roof of the new car uses a slip-back shape, and the waistline of the body uses a penetrating shape, extending from the headlights to the rear of the car, with smooth lines, which once again enhances the sense of movement of the whole car. In the rear part, the new car adopts a slip-back design, and is equipped with a small tail similar to a duck tail, while the taillight is a more popular through-through design, and the visual effect of the whole car is low.

According to previous reports from the automotive industry, BYD Seal is a production model of the ocean-X concept car, which is based on BYD's latest e-platform 3.0. according to the previously exposed information, the new car body size is between Qin PLUSEV and Han EV, positioning the entry-level medium-sized sedan, the specific length, width and height of the new car are 4770/1860/1460mm, wheelbase 2900mm. Previously, it has been revealed many times that the car will directly mark Tesla Model 3 after its launch. Compared with Tesla Model 3 in terms of body size, the new car is slightly ahead of Tesla Model 3 in all dimensions except Bitzra Model 3. For comparison, the length, width and height of Tesla Model 3 are 4694/1850/1443mm and wheelbase 2875mm respectively.

In terms of interior, no information has been released about the new car, but combined with previously exposed spy photos and the same as Dolphin, which are based on BYD e platform 3.0, the new car may have integrated sports seats and will use the marine design style.

In terms of power, the new car will be equipped with lithium iron phosphate blade battery and adopt a new front double fork arm + rear five-rod chassis structure, with single-motor rear drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive respectively, with maximum power of 150kW (rear drive), 180kW (rear drive) and 360kW (all-wheel drive). Among them, the dual-motor four-wheel drive model can break 100 seconds at the earliest, and the pure electric life may exceed 700km.

Considering the appearance design, body size and configuration power of the new car, it can be said that the new car belongs to the same style as Tesla Model3, and it can even be said that the data of the new car Bitzra Model3 is excellent. With the arrival of BYD Seal, Tesla Model3 may usher in the strongest competitor.

If the news is true, the new car will become the second pure electric car in BYD's marine life series, which is a series of products built by BYD for pure electric cars. at the same time, it is also a key series of BYD e platform 3.0.

At present, the first model in the series, "Dolphin", was officially launched on August 29th last year. According to the new car plan announced by BYD, BYD will also launch the BYD Ocean Series this year. BYD will also launch three new cars, Seagull, Sea Lion and Destroyer 05, covering different levels. Among them, the Seagull will be a small car that will be positioned lower than the dolphin but slightly higher than the Wuling Hongguang MINI EV, or an entry-level model for the ocean series. Sea Lion is positioned as a medium-to-large SUV, while Standard Tesla Model Y is expected to go public in the fourth quarter of this year. At present, BYD's first model based on e-platform 3.0 has sold a total of 38448 dolphins, including 10602 in January this year, making it another popular model of BYD. Dolphin's performance after the launch may be a better start to the market for the next marine model.
