It is understood that Lingdu L is based on the Volkswagen MQB EVO platform to build a vertical replacement model for the current Lingdu, and lengthens on the basis of the current model.

At the same time, SAIC Volkswagen also announced that Lingdu L is nicknamed "spicy steamed bread". In recent years, the major car companies in the model naming more and more "flying self", in an attempt to use the model name to win traffic. However, although the official vote for the nickname of the car, "spicy steamed bread" won by an absolute number, and caused many netizens to complain, but compared with the official names such as Haverdou and Haverdou, "spicy steamed bread" is just a nickname. In addition, as we all know, the previous generation of Lingdu was called "LAMANDO" in English, and its transliteration is similar to "spicy steamed bread". It is not surprising to finally confirm that the nickname of the new Lingdu L is "spicy steamed bread".

As a new generation of models, Lingdu L is not only fully innovated in appearance and interior, but also further lengthened in body size. From the point of view of appearance, Lingdu L adopts an "unforgettable" design style, which is more sporty than the previous generation, with an obvious downward pressure on the front and a large intake grille to create a visual impact. Among them, the "big mouth" in front of the net surrounded by the overall "smiling face" visual effect, the interior is similar to the mid-term modified Passat starry version of the grille design, at least for now, this "large-scale" update is still quite controversial. In addition, the daytime driving lights at the front of the car can be lit by the sign, connecting the lamp groups on both sides, and the upper part of the headlamp is slightly obscured by the machine cover.

On the side of the car body, Lingdu L adopts double waistline design, which is similar to the design style of Volkswagen CC. As a new generation of models, Lingdu L uses a four-door frameless door and hatchback rear door design, this design is still very attractive to young consumers, but also can stand out in the same class competition. Of course, such a design style makes it hard not to think of Volkswagen CC. As a product with the title of "the most beautiful Volkswagen", the popularity of Volkswagen CC is partly due to the high price. Lingdu L is the first compact car with frameless doors in Volkswagen domestic models, and its product power is undoubtedly greatly improved.

In the rear part, the new car is equipped with a new style of through-type taillight group, and the tail mark also has a luminous effect. "L" is also added after the LAMANDO letter at the bottom of the tail mark, and the exhaust system is modeled in imitation of two sides. In terms of size, the length, width and height of Lingdu L are 4784/1831/1469mm and wheelbase 2731mm respectively, which is significantly higher than that of the previous generation, in which the length increases 169mm and the wheelbase increases 75mm.

In terms of interior decoration, Lingdu L also adopts a brand new design, with a double screen design composed of a 10-inch LCD dashboard and a 12-inch touch multimedia display screen, which further enhances the visual width of the car. At the same time, the new Lingdu L is equipped with Volkswagen's latest family-style three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and lever-type electronic shift mechanism, three-spoke steering wheel and Volkswagen ID. The family has a high degree of similarity.

In terms of power, the Lingdu L will be marked 280TSI at the end, and the new car will be equipped with a 1.4T engine, a maximum power of 110kw (150hp), a peak torque of 250Nm and a seven-speed dry double clutch gearbox. For reference, the current Lingdu also offers a 1.4T low-power engine, maximum power 96kw, and is also equipped with a 7-speed dry double clutch transmission.

As we all know, the design style of Volkswagen products has always been relatively traditional, and the appearance of its domestic models is very similar. If you are not familiar with the automobile industry, it is difficult to distinguish specific Volkswagen models. This is also the reason why netizens jokingly call Volkswagen "doll face". However, Lingdu is an exception, its exterior design is obviously different from other Volkswagen models, coupled with frameless door and sliding back design, its sales in the market is not poor. Data show that SAIC-Volkswagen Lingdu was released at the Chengdu Auto Show in August 2014 and officially went on sale in January 2015. The models that are pre-sold this time are Lingdu second-generation products, and it is expected that the final price will not change much from the current models.

Within SAIC-Volkswagen, Lingdu positioning is between Lang Yi and Passat. Although FAW-Volkswagen Suiteng price and Lingdu overlap, the two styles are different and can not form a direct competitive relationship. However, combined with the design and price of the Lingdu partial sports style, the Honda Civic / model and the 2.0T low-power version of Lecke 03 will compete with it.

According to traffic insurance data, Lingdu's cumulative sales in 2021 were 61137, down 11.2 per cent from a year earlier, including 6299 in December 2021, up 20.6 per cent from a year earlier. With the launch of the new Ling du L, it is expected that its sales will be affected in the short term, and it remains to be tested whether the new car will reach a new high after its launch.
