On the evening of March 4th, ideal Automobile announced on social media that it will officially launch the new smart flagship SUV at the Beijing Auto Show, and the product will be officially named ideal L9. According to previous reports, the ideal L9, code-named ideal X01, will be built based on the second generation add-on platform to locate a large SUV and will use a 1.5T four-cylinder engine and motor power system.

According to the spy photos previously exposed, the appearance of the new car has been basically finalized and has entered the stage of mass production testing. Judging from the spy photos, the overall style of the new car is similar to that of the ideal ONE, with headlights on both sides of the front, which means that the new car will use a split light group, and it is expected that there will still be LED daytime driving lights running through the front of the car. In the rear part, the new car is equipped with a small roof spoiler and high brake lights, while the taillights use a single penetrating design, which is obviously different from the current ideal double-layer penetrating type of ONE. In terms of size, the length, width and height of the new car are 5200/1998/1800mm, wheelbase is 3100mm, positioning large SUV, similar to BMW X7 and Mercedes-Benz SUV.

In terms of interior decoration, the ideal L9 will use a new design language, and the spy photo will only be equipped with a suspended central control screen, not even a dashboard, so we speculate that the center console of the design uses temporary parts, and there will be great changes in the future. In addition, according to the non-production version of the spy photo, the new car will use a suspended central-controlled multimedia display screen, and the multi-function steering wheel will use a four-spoke design. In addition, the ideal L9 will be equipped with a large-size HUD head display and a display screen in the back row.

In terms of smart configuration, the ideal L9 will be equipped with smart driving services, including super smart parking, urban smart driving, multiple attentive car remote calls, smart driving and OTA upgrades. In addition, the car will have L4 self-driving hardware, including AP controller Horizon J3+J5 chip and SP controller customized Orin-X chip, installation of 1 128line lidar, 1 DMS, 5 millimeter wave radar, 12 ultrasonic radar and 12 8m cameras.

As ideal's first large SUV, it will no longer be equipped with a three-cylinder driver, but will be equipped with an incremental hybrid system consisting of a 1.5T four-cylinder engine and a drive motor, which is licensed by BMW. In September 2021, ideal Automobile and Mianyang Xinchen Power Machinery Co., Ltd. signed an investment agreement, the two sides will set up a new joint venture "Sichuan ideal Xinchen Technology Co., Ltd.". It is said that "the new generation booster produced by the joint venture is authorized by BMW to produce engines, and the first phase is planned for 200000 units, which will be put into production in 2023." It is speculated that the ideal L9 will be equipped with a brand new 1.5T teleport and a Miller cycle with a thermal efficiency of 40%, while the drive motor will be provided by Great Wall Honeycomb Power, equipped with 44.5kWh power battery and 65L fuel tank, with pure electric range of 155km under WLTC condition, with a total range of more than 800km.

It is understood that at present, there are not many large-scale SUV on sale in China, only Hongqi E-HS9 and Beijing BJ90, and the price is not low, of which Hongqi E-HS9 sells for 50.98-779800 yuan, which is a pure electric SUV, and Beijing BJ90 sells for 99.8-1.288 million yuan, which is a traditional fuel vehicle. Predictably, as an ideal L9 for a large SUV, it is expected to be expensive, about 500000 yuan, which means it will not be able to move as much as the ideal ONE. However, as a large SUV with an incremental route, the ideal L9 does not have battery life anxiety, and it has bright spots such as 1.5T four-cylinder engine and L4 self-driving, which are the advantages of the ideal L9, and its performance should be better than other large SUV after launch.

At present, only ideal ONE is on sale, which is equipped with a 1.2T three-cylinder booster produced by Dongan. However, although the three-cylinder engine is not popular with consumers in the domestic market, the ideal ONE, which uses the incremental route, has gone another way. Data show that ideal ONE delivered 8414 new cars in February 2022, an increase of 265.8% over the same period last year and a month-on-month decline of 31.42%. From the perspective of a single model, the performance of the ideal ONE is the best product of the new power brand at present, but the oil and electricity has no battery life anxiety, which is the biggest advantage of the ideal ONE and other new power products.

Prior to this, ideal Automobile released its annual results, showing a revenue of 27.01 billion yuan and a net loss of 321.5 million yuan in 2021. In terms of sales, it is expected to deliver 90491 vehicles for the whole year in 2021, an increase of 177.4% over the same period last year. According to the ideal plan, it will launch the first full-size add-on electric SUV X01, the above-mentioned ideal L9, the standard Mercedes-Benz GLS within the year.
