If Audi A7 Sportback 3.0 returns to the Chinese market, will you still buy domestic Audi A7L?
According to FAW-Audi internal documents, due to stricter national six standards and regulations, imported A7 Sportback 3.0T models were delisted from the Chinese market in 2019, and now imported A7 Sportback 3.0T models will return to the Chinese market. According to the price list, the guiding price of Audi A7 55TSFI quattro premium version is about 790000 yuan in the market.
It is understood that the new Audi A7 Sportback 3.0T model has been fully upgraded with standard smart quattro, extended black appearance kit, 21-inch Audi Sport wheels, super sports seats and carbon fiber trim. In addition, the new car also offers 9 appearance colors: whirlwind black, sky cloud gray, legendary black, glacier white, foil silver, tango red, dome blue, star gray and auroral blue.

As the first model of SAIC Audi, the biggest difference between Audi A7L and imported Audi A7 is that it cancels the slippery body design and lengthens the body according to the needs of the domestic market, which tends to the traditional hatchback shape. As the first model of SAIC Audi, the Audi A7L has attracted numerous eyes and high expectations from the outside world from the moment of exposure. However, judging from the performance of the real car in the first month of its launch, the A7L sold only 316 cars in the first month, which was not as good as the Audi A6L plug-in hybrid model next door.
SAIC Audi has set an annual sales target of 40, 000 vehicles for the A7L, which is only more than 3000 vehicles per month on average. Compared with the annual sales of more than 100, 000 units of the FAW Audi A6L next door, the large-size A6L's target of 40, 000 is indeed not out of line. However, Audi A7L achieved less than 1/10 of its sales target in the first full month, which inevitably made the outside world worried about the market prospect of the A7L.
In response to the A7L's Waterloo in the first month of its launch, SAIC Audi said that because the A7L is still in the climbing stage, delivering only 3.0T, coupled with only 120 stores across the country, resulting in lower-than-expected sales.
Admittedly, the statement given by SAIC Audi is that it will have a certain impact on the sales of the A7L, but is this really the main reason? Even if the capacity is climbing, it will not be enough to deliver only 316 new cars in a month. From the author's point of view, SAIC Audi A7L lost the imported A7 soul after being domestically made, and the lack of differentiation with A6L is the main reason for poor sales.
