It plans to achieve annual sales of 1.2 million pure electric vehicles by 2030 and 4 million worldwide, including more than 2 million new energy vehicles. The target of selling 1.2 million pure electric vehicles by 2030 is 36% higher than the 2030 pure electric vehicle sales target set by Kia at the investors' conference last year. Kia said it expects more than 80 per cent of pure electric vehicle sales by 2030 to come from major markets such as China, South Korea, North America and Europe, where pure electric vehicles will account for 45 per cent of Kia's total sales.
In terms of model planning, Kia will launch at least two pure electric vehicles a year from 2023 and will have 14 pure electric vehicles by 2027. Among them, the flagship electric model EV9 will be launched in 2023, and the EV9 model will be positioned as a large SUV with a total length of nearly 5 meters. In terms of power, the EV9 model 0-100km/h accelerates for less than 5 seconds, the driving distance reaches 540km after being fully charged, and the 100km mileage can be increased after only 6 minutes of charging.

According to the concern of the automobile industry, Kia, founded in 1944, is a South Korean multinational carmaker that has been in China for 20 years. In 2002, South Korea's Kia, Dongfeng Motor and Jiangsu Yueda Group jointly established a joint venture legal person in China, in which Qia holds 50% of the shares, Dongfeng and Yueda each hold 25%, and the operating life is from September 12, 1992 to September 11, 2022. Relevant data show that the period from 2014 to 2016 was the highlight of Kia's sales in China. Kia's annual sales exceeded 600000 in these three years and reached 650000 in 2016, but since 2017, Kia has been losing money. Sales began to decline sharply, falling sharply to 359000 in 2017, rebounding slightly to 370000 in 2018, falling again to 289800 in 2019, and only 249000 in 2020. Its sales fell to 152000 in 2021. Looking back on the past 2021, Kia has undergone great changes in China. According to the auto industry's previous arrangement, in November 2021, Dongfeng Automobile Group Co., Ltd. publicly listed its 25% stake in Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd. through the Shanghai United property Exchange at a listing price of 297 million yuan. Dongfeng Group announced its official withdrawal from Dongfeng Yueda Kia. On January 12, 2022, Dongfeng Automobile Group Co., Ltd. closed its 25% stake in Dongfeng Yueda Kia Automobile Co., Ltd., with Jiangsu Yueda Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Yueda Automobile Group") as the sole bidder. In February 2022, Kia and Jiangsu Yueda Group are planning to form a new joint venture with an additional capital of 900 million US dollars, and the two sides are determined to announce the name of the new company in April this year. On March 1, 2022, Yueda Investment announced that it would abandon the capital increase of Dongfeng Yueda Kia.
In fact, since Dongfeng Group announced its formal withdrawal from Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Kia has also begun its own "reform". Kia has previously said that after the establishment of a new joint venture between Kia and Jiangsu Yueda Group, Kia will expand its investment to introduce more global models and new energy models, while Kia will gradually stop producing models under 100000 yuan. According to the plan, in addition to the introduction of HEV hybrid models in Asia this year, the pure electric model EV6 will also be introduced into China soon. In addition, Kia will launch new electric models in the domestic market every year, gradually building a new EV matrix of six electric vehicles. According to the latest plan released by Kia, the proportion of Kia new energy vehicles in global sales will increase from 17% in 2022 to 52% in 2030, when Kia will also focus on pure electricity or new energy models.
