In the statement, the owners of the Mercedes-Benz EQC jointly demanded that Daimler China admit its mistake in a timely manner and give the owner a reasonable reply as soon as possible. After the exposure, Beijing Mercedes-Benz responded that it was "working out an optimization plan one by one" and recalled 10104 Mercedes-Benz EQCs in China the following month.

However, the incident did not end with the recall of Beijing Mercedes-Benz. On March 7, the auto industry learned from the Mercedes-Benz EQC circle that 238 owners of Mercedes-Benz EQC once again issued a joint statement saying they disagreed with Beijing Mercedes-Benz's recall of Mercedes-Benz EQC, and put forward seven "questions" and four "demands", while demanding that Mercedes-Benz immediately recall the problem vehicles and solve the problem.

According to the joint statement, "We are all owners of this EQC recall, and most of them have had the painful experience of replacing the front / rear motor at least once, up to four times." In order to safeguard our rights, we persistently complained to the relevant state regulators and functional departments. Mercedes-Benz officials first responded to this incident on February 18, 2022, but only admitted that 10104 of some domestic EQC vehicles had quality defects during the period from November 30, 2018 to December 15, 2021, and issued a notice to launch a formal recall after August 15. "

At the same time, it said, "this recall is the third recall notice received by motorists in a short period of 1 or 2 years. The previous recall has not been resolved, and new recall notices follow. We believe that Mercedes-Benz continues to deliberately conceal the truth, secretly replace the concept of design defects with manufacturing deviations, and continue to market substandard products that have not undergone complete safety testing without improvement. Chinese consumers endlessly act as defective guinea pigs. The front and back replacement of the motor assembly is described as a drive module, which describes the major safety risks that occur on a large scale as possible risks under extreme conditions. "

According to the joint statement, car owners put forward "four demands" for this: 1. Immediately recall all Mercedes-Benz EQC electric vehicles and replace the front and rear motors at Mercedes-Benz dealers to eliminate safety risks. If the motor cannot be replaced in time due to insufficient supply of motor suppliers, the dealers will provide walkers equal to the price and grade of the recalled vehicles. According to Article 19 of the Consumer Rights Protection Law of the people's Republic of China, the owner shall bear the necessary expenses incurred by the vehicle owner as a result of the recalled vehicle (including the round-trip fee for sending the recalled vehicle, fuel subsidy for the additional expenditure of the scooter for the fuel vehicle, etc.), until the dealer completes the replacement of the driving license for the replacement of the new motor for the EQC owner. 2. For car owners who have previously replaced the motor, all implement the relevant policies in accordance with the measures for the implementation of the regulations on the recall of defective Automobile products that came into effect on January 1, 2022 (that is, the new three-guarantee policy). Give car owners the right to return or change their cars on their own. 3. Extend the warranty period of the "three electricity system" and extend the lifetime warranty commitment for all owners who recall motor / battery and electronic control failures. 4. For the owners who recall and replace the motor, give a certain standard derogatory compensation for second-hand cars.

It is understood that the EQC is the first domestic pure electric model of Mercedes-Benz, which officially went on sale on November 8, 2019. The current price is 49.98-579800 yuan, based on the fuel version of GLC (39.78-587800 yuan). In terms of power, Mercedes-Benz EQC is equipped with a pure electric power system composed of front and rear induction induction units and ternary lithium batteries with a capacity of 79.2kWh, with a maximum power of 300kw (408hp), a peak torque of 760N ·m and a comprehensive range of 415km for NEDC.

Listed for only two years, Mercedes-Benz EQC has been recalled three times in China. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. filed a recall of EQC with the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on March 12, 2021. The recall is due to problems in the software design of the communication module. When the vehicle collides and automatically triggers the emergency call service, the temporary drop in the voltage of the communication module power supply caused by the vehicle collision may lead to deviation in the position of the vehicle automatically sent to the Mercedes-Benz emergency call center. Could cause a delay in rescue. Beijing Mercedes-Benz Automobile Co., Ltd. recalled 796 EQC to the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration on August 30th, 2021. The recall was due to the inability to identify and check the status of the air-conditioning condensate hose after assembly and to ensure the tightness of its connection, resulting in the possibility that the air-conditioning condensate could enter the crew cabin. Electrical components installed in the driver's or copilot's foot area or central passage area may be corroded and / or short-circuited.

In addition to the unflattering product quality, the sales of Mercedes-Benz EQC are also mediocre. Figures show that only more than 6000 vehicles were sold in 2021 and only 407 were sold in January. For now, Mercedes-Benz EQC is underperforming both in terms of sales and quality, and if officials do not respond in time, it is likely to worsen the situation.
