On March 13, SAIC-Volkswagen Xinwei was officially launched, with a total of five models with a price range of-10,000 yuan. It is understood that the new Weiran will be officially unveiled at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show and is expected to be officially listed in the first quarter. Compared with the 2020 models currently on sale, the new car offers two 330TSI and three 380TSI with a total of five options, of which the new Zunchi version of 380TSI can be regarded as a new entry to the new Veran 380TSI series.

As a modified model, the new Weiran is consistent with the current model in appearance design, and the overall change is not great. The front face still adopts the latest family design of the Volkswagen brand, and six horizontal chrome-plated bars outline the huge intake grille, which is connected with the LED headlights on both sides to form a unified penetrating collocation, and the style is quite similar to that of Volkswagen CC. On the side of the body, the transition between the roof and the rear window is relatively smooth, and the huge body uses double sliding doors. From the rear point of view, the new car adopts a relatively simple design style, flattened LOGO and the English alphabet, and a slender chrome strip that runs through the lights and logo, further enhancing the visual width of the new car. In terms of size, the new Weiran length, width and height are 5346/1976/1781mm and the wheelbase is 3180mm.

Although it is a modified model, the interior has been replaced with the popular suspended large-size central control screen, and the independent touch air-conditioning panel has been cancelled. Among them, the new Varan is equipped with a 10.25-inch LCD dashboard, the minimum model is equipped with a 10-inch integrated levitation screen, and the other four models are equipped with a 12-inch integrated levitation screen. In addition, in order to increase the storage space in the front row, the new car adopts a connected design between the central console and the central armbox, which can form a hollowed-out storage space and be equipped with a new family-based small electronic shift lever. In terms of configuration, the new Varan includes MOS 3.2 Smart car Coupling system, dial digital shift, knee airbag, in-car pre-ventilation, lane assist system and AEB automatic brake assist system.

In terms of power, the new Varan is equipped with 2.0T engines and offers two versions of low power (330TSI) and high power (380TSI) according to different configurations, with a maximum power of 186hp (137kW) and 220hp (162kW), with a peak torque of 320Nm and 350Nm respectively. In terms of transmission, the 7-speed DSG double clutch gearbox matches the engine.

It is understood that Weiran is a medium and large MPV under SAIC-Volkswagen, which officially went on sale on May 28th, 2020, with a price of 28.68-399800 yuan. The new car is based on the Volkswagen MQB platform and is co-produced with Tuang. It is the second MPV model under SAIC-Volkswagen. However, Weiran's sales in the market are not satisfactory, with cumulative sales of 10945 vehicles in 2021, with an average monthly sales of less than 1,000 vehicles, with a cumulative sales volume of 938 vehicles in the first two months.

In terms of pricing, Weiran's competitors include Buick GL8, Toyota Sena, Kia Jiahua, Honda Ericsson / Odyssey and other models, all of which are medium and large MPV with the same price range. According to the MPV sales list released by the Federation of passengers, the Buick GL8 is the leading model in the MPV market, with sales of 9090 vehicles in February. Toyota Sina's sales increased significantly after the "no price increase", with 4120 vehicles sold in February and 4329 in January, although sales have declined, but they are still bright compared to other models. The Odyssey and the Ericsson sold 3069 and 2497 models respectively. As for Kia Jiahua, sales are very weak after the replacement, with only 243 vehicles in February, even Weiran "can't beat it".

With the listing of New Weiran, the product power has increased compared with cash, it may be able to bring sales growth, but in all aspects, its growth space will not be very large.
