Today, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the 354th batch of "Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturing Enterprise and Product Announcement" new product publicity, among which FAW Toyota pure electric SUV model bZ4X also appeared in the new product publicity list, which means Toyota pure electric bZ4X officially entered the Chinese market, the car will be manufactured by Tianjin FAW Toyota, the new car may debut at the Beijing Auto Show and officially listed in late June this year.

Different from Toyota's oil-to-electric models launched in China before, FAW Toyota's brand-new pure electric SUV is specially developed by Toyota according to e-TNGA architecture for pure electric vehicles, and is also the first pure electric SUV of Toyota bZ pure electric exclusive series. The bZ4X model was first unveiled at Shanghai Auto Show and the 4th China International Import Expo in April and November last year respectively.

In terms of appearance, according to the declaration drawing information, as Toyota's first brand-new electric vehicle model, the new car abandons Toyota's conservative design style in the past, and the overall design style is bolder. The new car adopts a brand-new design language. The front face part uses a closed grille design, the two sides are equipped with a narrow headlight group, and the lower surround adopts a through-shaped design, which makes the whole look radical. On the side of the car body, the new car adopts multi-segment waist line and collision wheel hub design, with distinct layering. At the rear of the car, the new car is equipped with the popular through-tail lights, and the large black surround at the bottom further enhances the sporty feel of the tail.

In terms of body size, according to the declaration information, the length, width and height of the new car are 4690/1860/1650mm respectively, and the wheelbase is 2850mm, positioning the pure electric medium SUV. The new car will be available with 235/60 R18 and 235/50 R20 tyres depending on the model configuration.

In terms of power, the new car will be available in two versions: two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive. The predecessor model will be equipped with a single motor with a maximum power of 150kW and a peak torque of 265N·m; the four-wheel drive model will be equipped with a dual motor with a total output power of 160kW and a peak torque of 336N·m. The new car will also be equipped with a 71.4kWh battery pack jointly developed with Ningde Times, which takes about 30 minutes to charge to 80%. In addition, officials claim that the battery will still have 90% of the energy storage capacity after 10 years.

At present, the price of the vehicle is unknown. For reference, the price of the model in the British market is 41950-51550 pounds (about 359,000 - 441,200 yuan). It is estimated that the domestic price may be about 300,000 yuan. Combined with the information of the declaration chart, it is expected that the new car will compete with Tesla Model Y and Chevrolet Bolt after it goes on the market.

According to the data, Toyota bZ pure electric exclusive series is positioned as Toyota brand brand-new pure electric exclusive series, among which bZ originates from Beyond ZERO, aiming to surpass zero emission and obtain different freedom. According to Toyota's previous plan, by 2025, it will launch five pure electric vehicles based on e-TNGA platform, including three SUVs, one station wagon and two MPVs. The product names are bz+ numbers, and "X" stands for SUV. At that time, Toyota will have 10 BEV products in China, and 30 pure electric vehicles will be launched globally by 2030. At present, Toyota's products in the field of pure electric vehicles are very limited.
